I got a new pup last week and I think he will be a keeper. I love to find the accidental litter that just happens between a couple of good hunting dogs. Best of all they are usually free. My dog Pepper is 1/2 shorthair and 1/2 brittany and she does real well. This pup is 1/2 shorthair and 1/2 pointer and resembles the pointer side of the family. Both parents are good field dogs . His name is Mo.

I have a half german short hair and half chocolate lab that I got for free, and he has turned out to be the best dog I have ever hunted behind. He points pheasants and retrieves ducks…. What more could a guy ask for? He puts all the other high dollar dogs I have had to shame.

Keith, you didn’t get your dog from a guy at Cow Creek Lodge did you?? Just kidding, I have the same mutt. Definitely one of the best dogs I’ve hunted over. He’s 9 or 10 now, living on my dad’s farm. I was home over the weekend, the old boy is really getting grey around the mouth. He also has changed from the traditional dark chocolate color to a very bright rust/orange color. I sure miss having him around….
