On Green Bay for the get together and got to try out the combination of a 3hp solo head and 8″ k-drill with chipper blades. Joe got the honors and it looked to work well
Minimal torque, excellent ability to open old holes and when drilling through 22″ of virgin ice it cut smoothly at a rate of 2 inches per second. No binding and breakthrough was effortless with a clean hole at the bottom. It will take a few hundred holes to give a long term review, but so far a good start.

Thanks for the information on the K-Drill, I am thinking about going that route next season if the funds are there.

C-R-C, how would you compare it to an Ion? Is the hole a small 8 or a big 8?

The only thing I know about ion’s is that they are electric and green. As far as the k~drill it is 7.5″ from outside to outside of the double chipper blades.

Thank you, that small 8 is the only thing I don’t like about my Ion and I’m not sure I want to have a 10 inch.

I just measured the lazer drill that came with my strike master lazer pro 8, and its actual measure from blade to blade is 7 5/8″

Yes I got the honor of trying the k- drill for the very first time and let me tell you it was absolutely amazing how fast it shredded the ice!!! It’s the fastest drilling auger I have ever seen. I was hoping Clown was gonna sell it to me. LOL. I bet it could drill close to 3 holes to my one hole with my Jiffy propane. I would put this drill up against any auger on the market and I bet it would drill faster! Great auger Dave!!

My K-Drill has been amazing with the Milwaukee Fuel Drill. However, I just can’t get gas out of my head. I’ll be buying a Tanaka powerless next year for the thick ice. Thanks for the update.

Where can you purchase just the bit? I tried looking last night after reading this post. I have a strikemaster magnum chipper w/ 2hp solo engine and wan’t to upgrade my bit next year. Was planning on just going with a 8″ lazer but the k-drill sounds intriguing.

Correct. At least the two brands are affiliated. No connection to Strikemaster, but I think CRC used the K-Drill on his Strikemaster head.

No kidding!! $365 for the 9″ bit! So the k-drill is no longer an option for me. Too bad, I really like the videos and review I’ve seen. Have to go for the 8″ lazer which goes for $160.

I paid $249 for the 8″ K Drill. That’s as cheap as you will find them anywhere.

That is correct, 8″ $249.00 plus $10.00 shipping, out of stock at this time.
