I have two Humminbirds that I need to update, a 998csi and a 788. Is there anything I need to do before I run the updates? Any settings need to be changed? I am not too worried about waypoints but I want to make sure the units come back up and run correctly.
if you’re not worried about losing anything, then I would revert the units back to factory defaults before running the updates, that way you can rule it out if something were to go wrong afterwards…
Read the instructions listed on Humminbirds website. I know on my helix they recommended to revert back to factory and unplug all accessories.
What are you gaining by updating? Is there a feature you are looking for in particular, or just updating because there is one out there? What version are you going from and to?
