Any suggestions? I’ve tried pulling the power plug out of the back and plug it back in. No luck. It’s like it needs a re-boot? I just updated to 2.660 and that went well (used the SD card method). Shut it down, put the ZeroLine card back in, and it’s been sitting unpowered for a few weeks. Tried to start it up today and just get the start-up screen (HUMMINBIRD Simply.Clearly.Better).

Have you tried powering it up without the Zero Lines card in it?

yeah, took the card out, tried a different battery (2 lithiums putting out over 13V and hooked it up in my boat with a fully charged battery). Now, it’s going to start-up screen without me even hitting any buttons.

chatting online with Humminbird support. They’re sending a wall adapter to make sure it’s not a power issue. I really doubt that’s going to magically fix it – and even if it did (just need to get it to boot up so I can restore default), I doubt it would then work on my ice shuttle or in my boat (where I’ve tried to boot it up). They said it would cost $230 to fix it (and shipping costs). Bought it as a Control Head Only back in Feb 2020 so it’s out of warranty.

I’m no expert, but it sounds like you have a stuck button. Since your only option is to send it in, I might try getting out some dawn detergent and a soft toothbrush and a microfiber towel and a small dish of water. don’t get the keys to wet, wick up the liquid with the towel, and lightly scrub around the key.

Most electronic key actually work when they are released. Work all the keys, it may not be the key that you think it is is the problem.

After you have cleaned all the key and the feel like they are free to move dry the key area with a hair drier before powering it up.

Give it a shot what can it hurt….

Did you restore it to Factory Default prior to doing the update?

Interesting thought! Will definitely try this.

Yup! I did a reset to default prior to the update. Followed the directions to a T.

interesting – I put the zero-line card back in and reconnected to a battery, pushed the power button and waiting. Lo and behold! It booted up! We’ll see if this becomes something intermittent but it seems to be working fine for now. As suggested above, maybe a button was stuck or there was some kind of electronic gremlin stuck in the processor. )

Now that I got it back running, thought I’d share this screenshot from this summer. Any thoughts on what type of fish those are? I’ve caught many species in that spot – walleye (biggest ran 24″), sheephead, cats…

If you were on the river I think I would guess gar… I have seen them stacked suspended behind a wing dam kind of like that picture. Managed to catch one to confirm it too.

yeah, I think that’s a good guess. Have seen gar on the surface in that area. There are also bass, pike, and probably musky nearby. very lively spot! Have seen balls of baitfish so thick the Helix tracks the top of the ball as the bottom of the water.

Have you tried beating on it with a hammer? That was my father in laws fix to everything.
