Did not have a lot of time but finally got the Howa out to sight in. Shooting 55 grain Hornady SP in front of 25.5 grains of TAC powder. Started at 25 yards had her close so set up at 100 yards. This Howa came with a Simmons 4X16X40 scope not that I was expecting miracles from this scope but by the time I finished I was pretty disappointed in it. Parallax adjustment was not even close to the range markings not a big deal I can adjust that which is typical for some scopes but it was 75 yards off. At 100 yards I had to go 175 and still had a tad of Parallax. First 3 shots at 100 yards I was 8 inches high and 1 inch left. 1/4 click MOA adjustments so went 32 clicks down and 4 clicks right. Three more shots well I was 7.5 inches low and still 1 inch left. Went back up 16 clicks and added 4 more clicks right. Not to bad within 1.5 inches of dead center but not a good group. Tweaked the scope a little more but it just would not settle down to what I am used to seeing. Now I have had cheaper scopes that have done me well but so far this Simmons is not even as good a Centerpoint or a descent Tasco. I will say the Simmons to me is a tad clearer at 16 power then Tasco or Centerpoint

I am not finished with it yet I was getting cold and that was not helping. I can`t say good or bad about the Howa it self yet that is to be determined, in my previous post I mentioned the trigger it is a great trigger for an off the shelf, as good as the Savage Acutrigger.

More to come when I have more time tweeking on the Simmons. If not then the Simmons will come off and my Grand slam will go on, at least that will give the rifle a better chance of showing it`s true colors.

I feel your pain on that simmons. Had one about 10 years ago on a browning abolt 270. Everything you described is what I experienced. Good luck

Your right Randy but I was expecting a little more out of the Simmons. For those shooters hunters who do not shoot much, don`t know what to expect out of there glass, and do not have the money for better glass it sucks. Thinking they have a problem with the firearm, or there technic when it may just boil down to the Optics.

I worked our gun clubs sight in. Saw that many times in the weekend.
