First trip of the season for us on the Mississippi river north of Aitkin. Was a little surprised to see the water flowing pretty good up that way and still a bit muddy. We typically look for walleyes on this stretch of river and end up catching a ton of small mouth. The walleye bite was way off on this trip with only one small one coming to the boat. Small mouth bite was a little off to but the ones we did catch where pretty nice. Didnt have a board with but I would guess over 16″s.
It was good to blow the old cobwebs out of the jon boat on this trip. Still working on this boat and trying to bring it back from a number of years sitting in the back yard. Jon got a new floor put in it. Very nice. Put my old 24 volt trolling motor on front and got a working depth finder in it again. The carb rebuild from last fall seem to have worked out well to. Looking forward to a number of trips in this boat over the next couple of months.
