Valid argument for that! Saw two this morning with no headlights on and it was dark.

I used to agree with that but Nick has slowly became more and more douchy. He’s such an @ss to everyone and he’s never wrong…Sure, he sometimes plays it off like a joke, but is it?…

I could never work with that clown and can hardly stand listening to him anymore.

If something costs less it is…. less expensive.

If something costs less and is made of poor quality it is cheaper.

Crossbow hunting is not bow hunting. It takes nothing to aim a rifle like weapon with a scope and shoot. Try drawing a bow back and not getting spotted. You don’t even hardly have to move to shoot. Plus you have 3 times the range. Sore shoulders? Take up a different sport. I’m 6’3 “ so I don’t race horses. Over 60, boo hoo, find a new sport. I didn’t read all the posts, so sorry if someone else said it before me.

Olives don’t belong on anything, at any time, any place.

Thursday Night Football should be canned. It seems forced and teams dread the short week it creates. There is HS football Friday nights, College Saturday, and NFL Sunday and Monday. Don’t oversaturate the market and strip your own demand for the greatest sport on television.

TUCRs are overrated and aren’t really “custom” if you can purchase duplicates in mass at department stores…that should hurt some feelings

Ban the use of road salt tomorrow statewide.

More tickets should be given by LEOs for speeding (warnings are the norm now)

I have no sympathy for dog owners when dogs are injured/attacked while being used to hunt wolves or bear. I’m not against wolf or bear hunting, but you better know the risks involved if dogs are included in the hunt.

Both of the main party nominees for the 2024 Presidential election will have never been president previously.

This feels pretty good and might be therapeutic now that I’ve started.

Starbucks coffee tastes like crap. If you want to spend $8 on a cup of coffee and can’t brew your own decent coffee, you might be a princess. As a matter of fact, all coffee you buy tastes like crap.

This actually came up last summer for a vote by the MDHA and they decided not to endorse it. Until the MDHA endorses the use of a crossbow by the general public during archery season, it won’t pass. They have a lot of power when it comes to rule-making in the deer hunting realm.

Wisconsin and Michigan have both enacted it though, so at some point it may be coming down the pipe. Minnesota seems to be slower with change like this.

Most crossbow hunters were not traditional archery hunters before hand. They were gun hunters looking for a way to extend their firearm season. The associated bow and outdoor companies, and the state of MN endorse this change though because people buy crossbows and more people buy licenses. Added revenue for both.

Any trophy class buck taken with a crossbow during the archery season is not eligible to be entered into the Pope and Young record book. They do not consider a crossbow to be a bow.

I have no issues with someone who has some sort of disability using a crossbow. If it allows them to continue the sport they love all the better. I have a couple buddies who could no longer bowhunt without a crossbow whether you call it bowhunting or not I dont care. They love to bowhunt and have done it their entire lives, but old age and accidents would eliminate this for them without a crossbow.

This may apply to the older xbow hunters, but everyone with a disability permit I know (like myself from a shoulder replacement) was a bow hunter beforehand. Where did you hear this? FWIW I agree a xbow is easier since you don’t have to draw, but range isn’t that much different as even with my Ravin I wouldn’t shoot at a deer beyond about 50-60 yards which is well within modern regular bow range. Yes my Ravin is accurate out to 100 yards, but I still think there’s a good chance they’d jump the string at 60 yards+.

You’re right, I should have been more specific. I was specifically referring to Wisconsin, as they have added about 35,000 “archery” hunters since they allowed the use of a crossbow during their archery season, while compound archery license sales have remained relatively flat. They are able to determine whether someone is using a crossbow or a compound bow during archery season because crossbow requires an additional fee when you purchase the license.

I am not an archery hunter, I only hunt via firearms. If they permitted the use of a crossbow here during archery season, I would consider taking it up. I could see why traditional compound bow hunters might be against allowing this to take shape though.

I agree with the physical aspect. I e. Requires less strength to shoot. No Brainer there. Though I’m not one to consider someone to be less of a person to go with one or the other.

What I disagree with is your distance comment, with whitetail specifically.

I have a permit in MN and shoot 400fps ravin.
These sound like a 22 LR being shot. They’re loud in comparison to a compound. Very loud.
Deer bolt like a they would with a gun shot.

I’ve shot deer with a compound and they flinch, and proceed like they weren’t startled in the least. Every deer I’ve shot with my crossbow bolt like you yelled HEY while waiving flaming torches.

In regards to ability to hit a live whitetail where you aimed I’d consider your xbow range to be less than that of a quiet compound.
A little wind, good shooter with good bow make longer shots with a slower arrow.

My first compound deer kill I hunted for 5 minutes, shot a compound no more than 5x in my lifetime, day before. Killed a deer from the ground at 35 yds… so your not going to convince me your doing anything special.

If you want to talk fps and ethical shot range excluding noise as a contributor to deer movement resulting in loss of accuracy you could easily conclude most compound hunters are shooting too far… that assumes you picked a maximum time to target. Say .25 seconds.

My crossbow has a sticker I added that says 50yds. Can I shoot a dime at 60 and a quarter at 70. Yes. But at 60 the deer has moved equivalent to having accuracy less than that of a pie plate. My target don’t move. Deer do.

Can’t paddle 4 miles… meh… fishing not for you rotflol you use metal hooks. Sheesh, carved bone for me.

I saved money not repairing torn rotator cuffs and my reward is a crossbow permit. I reach like a t-rex though, can’t shoit a basketball anymore, at least I’m already tall enough to hit high up things with my head so I don’t have to reach much anyway lol

IMO, limits and kill em however your please.

True archery hunters don’t have equipment to shoot past 10yds. (Long bows) Compound makes the man my arse. Lol. Mostly tongue in cheek don’t get upset.

Yeah I’ve shot 100 yds with my xbow. One one thousand….wack. yeah they decelerate just like any other arrow.

You can kill deer with a 20ga savage at 300 yds too. If you zero at 150yds and holdover 47″. Yeah, easier said than done right!

People in the woods are people who want to remain connected to nature. I’ll take as many of them however they want to enjoy their hunt as a positive.

    Watching replay of Thursday night game and wondering;

What would happen if an NFL player would put on the bottom of the back of their helmet (where they have the “uplifting sayings”) “Thin Blue Line”? Would love to see how fast that would be not allowed!

OK, wife out of town…time to put down the bottle of rum and the keyboard!

Here’s a usual unpopular opinion of mine – I don’t think there’s other life out there – meaning other planets, galaxies, and solar systems. Obviously we can’t know for certain, but I think it’s incredibly improbable.

I think the exact opposite. I think to many other galaxies, solar systems and planets for there not to be one other living thing some where. But who knows. I like to use my imagination
