I bought a couple of the “Boo-Rigs” (legal in Minnesota) this year. One with the plastic curly tails and the other with the willow blades. I used them pre-spawn this year and had some pretty good luck for largemouth. I primarily rigged with a “Dives To” Rapala as the trailing bait so I could control depth. I had some good luck retrieving at slower speeds with a DT4 that time of year with the curly tail rig. Last week I just started throwing the willow blade with a deeper DT10 for pike… however, no takers yet.
The video shows the rig has good action. I’m not sure if it did any service to using it as the hook up ratio seemed that 90% of the fish hit but weren’t hooked. I’ve been using a crank bait (with 2 treble hooks) and although I haven’t caught a whole lot, it seems the hook up ratio is pretty good.
