I bought a Marcum VS 825c from another IDO member about a year or so ago. The camera powers up but the screen is black. I sent it to Marcum who said they don’t repair the 825’s any longer and offered a small discount on a new unit. Something about not having the parts.

I am wondering if there are any other places that repair electronics? Drives me crazy that everything seems to be a throw away type item nowadays.

you should find another Marcum color camera owner and swap cameras just to see if its your camera head or something inside the screen.

I’ll try for that if I can find one. Part of me thinks it’s the screen because I can still turn the light on the camera. No clue though that’s why I’m looking for a place to fix it.

If you live close to Marcum’s HQ (located near Hopkin’s I believe?) I bet they would diagnose the issue for free if you walked in with it, at the very least they’d have an extra camera you could plug in and try… if the issue is the screen it’s likely just a broken solder… also check the connections to see if a pin broke or or bent, both are pretty common

I did have at at their HQ. I called and talked to them again (3rd time) and got a more thorough explanation. Sounds like its most likely the cable and or camera which they dont carry any longer. So it’s basically useless. They can repair the screens still but not a camera head or cable issue. The 35% off a new camera is what they offer since they cant repair the camera.
