Got a coupon that ends today so I’m thinking I’ll pull the trigger on an underwater camera. Narrowed it down to either the recon 5 or the vs485c. Underwater camera novice, but I am leaning towards the 485 for the bigger screen, any reason I should reconsider? Mobility not a huge issue, will be used in large part to entertain my son while fishing, but any special other features the recon has over the 485? I am working on an self imposed budget and the 485 is at the top of it so anything fancier is out, and for the amount of use it will in all likelihood get it’s just not worth spending more to sit in the basement most of its life.

I got a 485 for my kids. I really like it. Large screen, color option, video out to run it to a TV. I dont miss the other whistles and bells of spendier ones.

For what your looking to use it for most of the time… I would choose the 485 as well !!!

485 on the way, should make our ice fishing trips a little more fun with Wyatt.

only thing about a 485 is that it doesn’t have the directional feature. I wish i had that when i am setting up on the corner of a crib. its also kind of hard to find your bait in deep water if you don’t know which direction the camera is facing. it still works really well but it just takes a little longer to get set up.

485 for your needs. Running and gunning I would go with the 5+
