Ultrex VS Ghost Stearing?

I’m replacing my Xi5 that no longer will link to my lowrance units. I’m growing tired of all Lowrance issues and considering changing to Humminbird. That change would mean Ultrex. The biggest factor to me is stearing performance and spotlock.

I tried the Ghost at a sports show and was very impressed as the stearing was just like cable drive. For those that have used both, is the Ultrex as smooth as the Ghost? Any difference in spot lock accuracy?

    Thanks

I can’t help you out with comparing the ultrex and ghost but if you have any ghost questions, I have a little over 4 months experience with mine. My previous motor was a fortrex and before that I had a xi5 pinpoint with the gateway to Lowrance.

I made the change to an ultrex at the beginning of last year. It has work absolutely perfect for me. Can’t even imagine fishing without it. Flawless

I have not used the ghost

Thanks to those of you that replied. I was able to try the Ultrex this weekend and was very disappointed. I wanted it to be as smooth as the ghost but its not even close. This will force me to have at least 1 lowrance in my boat for GPS/trolling motor features. Lowrance has second best live scope and second best version of 360 but they seemed to have nailed the trolling motor.

Both HB and Lowrance have made their units way to complicated for the average Joe, I bet 90% of the units for both are running on auto. That’s not a bad thing, both work pretty well on auto. Don’t think for a second that your problems all go away with HB, I switched from Lowrance and regret it. HB, Lowrance, and Garmin are so good now I would stay with a system you know. Even on auto, they all screw up and service techs that know their products are few and far in between.

A freind of mine switched from Ultrex to Ghost his biggest complaint is having to clean weeds off of it alot, as he says the Ultrex was much better at keeping clean in the weeds. When he is fishing a tournament it is very annoying, the rest he is very happy with.
