What’s everyone using for an ultralight pan fishing setup?

For deadsticking I use 7′ K&E Whip’r rods with Shimano Sahara 500 reels

7’2″ UL ApexElite now. I really like the rod because it is fast action and not a buggy whip.

It all depends on the tactic you are using.
For dropping jigs and dead sticking I like to use B’n’M Difference RG082. It is an 8’-0” light power with a parabolic action. This rod also works great for trolling super light baits.
Casting I like to use a 7’ fast to extra fast UL rod. The key is to find a rod that is, like John said, not a buggy whip. The more your rod flops around after you cast the less distance you will get.

My preferred set up has always been my first St. Croix rod. A Premiere 6′ Light power fast action. I typically run 4# mono or floro on a Stradic 1000 reel.

Prior to that I was using my Ugly Stick 5’9″ L model along with a Pflueger President 25 reel. Treated me very well for years…like 20 years or so. There is just something about them ugly sticks.

This thing is awesome and will handle the occasional larger fish.

I have a couple St. Croix Triumph series rods at 6’6″ that I like real well along with a St.Croix Panfish series at 7 that’s outstanding with light baits.

I only have the one but it has proven itself to be a real pleasure to fish with. When I bought it the store had a 20% off special on some certain rods, including the St.Croixs. This rod came with a $25.00 store card plus there was another sale of some sort that got another 20% off so I did well on it.

I hung a Symetre on it spooled with 4 pound mono and it casts forever. Or so I thought until I tried a reel spooled with 4 pound Nanofil. That set up can cast a 1/32 jig far enough its hard to see the jig dimple the water when it hits. lol I still use the mono with it though.

I got mine off the classifieds here at IDO. Paying full price is for impatient people! Gonna have to try that line because spring time fishing requires long casts. The longer the better!

Picked up a limit creek 5’10” light action rod this spring for panfish/trout. Short length is nice for small streams and tight areas like shore fishing but a 7′ rod would be better for long casts. Great action though. Paird with a shimano symmetre 1000 and 4lb stren gold.

I think my ultra light rod is a G Loomis IMX SJR 720 for casting jigs 1/32 or 1/16oz
