I have a used Ulterra I’m considering putting on pontoon boat which only has room for 2 12v batteries. What will that do to the Ulterra?

I’m assuming you mean running a 36v ulterra on 24v. It will run as far as I know but you would be drawing something like 80amps at full throttle which is bad for you batteries and would either trip your circuit breaker or melt your wiring unless appropriately sized. It’s not a good idea.

    What size ulterra?

That’s what I was wondering mine is hooked up to two 12 volt batteries to get my 24 volts?

Undervoltage-ing it will run the risk of burning out the windings. Do you really want to risk it?
