Ulterra Question

After using my Ulterra 80lb for last three years without an issue I had something weird happen. When the unit was in the process of stowing the power cord and transducer cord grabbed the front of the side plate and stopped. I was able to free the cords from the side plate and the unit stowed with no problem. This was couple weeks ago. No other issues and hasn’t happened again. My problem is one of the side plate screws was dislodged and now the threaded aluminum side plate mount hole is stripped. Minnkota sent me replacement screws. They are described as 1/4 – 20 x 0.5 screws. They are just the right length but not big enough to rethread the hole or fit tightly. Any suggestions? Epoxy? bigger screw? what size?

I would just put the next size screw into it. May have to drill it out a bit but shouldn’t be an issue.

    Get a tap & die.

In this case, a 5/16” tap. Caution if the head of a 5/16” bolt won’t allow plate to slide over bolt head.

Buy a button head cap screw in this case. They have a lower profile head.
