i- pilot link units will network to HB locators
the regular i-pilot units will not.

It should be just fine. I have two I-pilot link Terrovas but have always had a unit or network connected.

Yes, the remote should work without the HB.

You should really determine if you really need/want the iPilot Link, or if the regular iPilot is good enough for you. The main difference is the ability to follow a contour from a lake map on the HB with the Link feature, and a touchscreen remote. If your main lake(s) that you often fish doesn’t have a hi-definition Lakemaster map, then the Link probably doesn’t make enough sense for you. If you do fish hi-def lakes, then it may be worthwhile.

Remote should work fine and so should a bluetooth connected phone or tablet.
