The updated drought monitor shows a whopping decrease in drought status across the state compared to a week ago.

Last week, 74% of the state was in at least moderate/stage 1 drought status. That number has dipped to only 43% now. And the small area of severe drought in southern MN is completely gone.

An area from Mille Lacs northwest towards Thief River is still in moderate drought, and most of the state is still classified as abnormally dry. Those areas did not receive as much snow, and got no rain out of the most recent systems.

2 more of those systems (all as rain) in the next 2 weeks and we’d be set up real pretty here in SE MN. Our fields ate that rainfall and now the snow about as fast as mother nature could apply it.

Look like SE MN is getting another nice dose of mixed precipitation today. Not sure if that’s south of you or not though.

^We’re getting the fringe of it here along Pool 4 and will take every drop.

Our leaser is planting the start of his ~90 acres of sweet corn this weekend.
