It’s been a fun season so far chasing salmon on the big lake. Its even more fun being able to chase fish on a daily basis with my dad. Cool water temps helped to keep the fish scattered and numbers down from a couple years ago, but customers have been getting some nice catches of salmon and trout. Our best luck for the big kings has been green flasher fly combos worked 60′ down in 90-100′. The bows prefer orange spoons riding high on straight mono high lines down to 5 color leadcore worked on boards. We don’t target the lakers but have put a few in the cooler usually on flies with a few cohos hitting the high lines with the bows. with water temps warming up the last week the fish should set up nicely on the temp breaks for the rest of the season. Look for the kings to make their run to the pier heads early in sept. There are a lot out there so it should be a good fall run. We still have a few open dates so check out http://www.salmonchasers.com to book your date.
