The moral of this story is that pontoon boaters need PFD’s as much as the rest of us and we all need to know where our anchors are. If you are one of the many that have replaced your anchor with Spot Lock, you might want to reconsider…more so if on a river.

“We had an incident last night (at Lock #3).

We had a pontoon lose power above the dam. We were able to rescue the two passengers from the pontoon before it was sucked under the dam.

I would like to thank #goodhuecountysheriff and #priarieislandpolice for there quick response to #LockandDam3. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Paul District”

I would like to thank the Lock Operators for their training and quick thinking in situations like this. They don’t want to be hero’s, but they are. Few people live to say they saw the underside of a roller while it’s in the water. If it wasn’t for these two Corp employees, this would be in the papers with a not so go headline.
