With the price of cheeseburgers he might have eaten himself out of the league.

    Dear Mr. Soto,

I saw in the news that you just signed a contract for $765 million.

I need a new trolling motor. Can you help a guy out?

    Thanks

The Twins missed out on a HUGE marketing opportunity, here…

    “Minne-SOTO”

The merch sales alone would cover half the contract! rotflol

    The MLB is broken.

Ratings are down year after year dating back over 20 seasons. Their playoffs are up against football games…which will always reign supreme.

The lack of a salary cap continues to create a larger divide.

Baseball at its purest levels is awesome. We continue to take-in highschool games around the area when we can as a few of my friends are varsity coaches. The town ball scene is great to support as well. Beyond that for baseball, the MLB has become nothing more than occasional radio noise in the garage.

Just like the transfer portal in college now. Town team games for me and the girls.

Definitely not good for business when’s there’s 3 or 4 teams that buy all the best players and other 26 are left hoping for a flash in the pan before their stars hit free agency. It’s becoming like the Gophers trying to compete for national championships in football, it just really isn’t possible.

Side note, I saw an article today that said the Twins would listen to trade offers for Correa.

I was hoping this was satire but… I heard, MLB is thinking about having each team get 1 opportunity per game to put any hitter in the box at anytime that you want. “The Golden at Bat” Lets say your clean up, just struck out in the bottom of the 9th for out 2, you could have him bat again. That sounds incredibly dumb to me… it would make a game more interesting, but it changes the game so much.

The worst thing these sports do is change the rules to eventually make it unwatchable. That would be a terrible idea to do that.

Ive liked baseball adjustment with the pitch clock and even the shift is fine. But the golden batter seems a bit to far.

Manfred isn’t a baseball guy. He’s a lawyer who doesn’t give two shits about history & tradition.

Talk about watching something that is futile. And for the record I used to be a big Twins supporter.

I don’t like this either, but it’s not as if it is happening tomorrow.

The articles I’ve read along with quotes from Manfred himself state that this is nowhere near a reality and would take years of vetting before ever making it to the MLB.

If something isn’t done with the salary cap issues plus tanking ratings and the lack of appeal to newer fans…the league will be defunct by the time this dumb golden at bat idea was put in place.

When I heard that a week or so ago I thought it was a joke. Maybe the NBA should give you a mulligan in case you miss a free throw at the end of the game.

Same here. And I think the MLB as a whole is dying, but the genius’ that run it don’t know it yet. All these Schtick rule changes aren’t the answer. Getting kids AT the game, or at least watching the game at home, and the hometown 9 having a chance at winning it all is part of it. And there seems to be no drive to changing any of that.

Check out the world series ratings dating back to 1968.

    https://www.baseball-almanac.com/ws/wstv.shtml

The number of viewers in recent years is less than half of what it was in the early 1990s. Keep in mind, the United States has almost 100 million more people living here today as in the early 90s as well.
