6 of the 9 Twins regulars are hitting .182 or lower – ouch. Kepler is 1 for 17; so much for him continuing his stellar second half from last year.
RipjiggenPosts: 11792April 5, 2024 at 11:47 am #2265470Yep. Other than Kirilloff and Correa, and to a certain extent Buxton, the offense has been brutal. The offense started like this last year also, so I’m sure they’ll improve.
sloughPosts: 589April 5, 2024 at 1:29 pm #2265507This is true, offenses typically lag in April when it’s cold. Fingers crossed!
April 6, 2024 at 4:14 pm #2265588Wonder when someone’s gonna let these guys know that pitchers throw pitches other than fastballs…..good lord they look helpless.
Brad DimondPosts: 1486April 6, 2024 at 4:38 pm #2265589Only Kirriloff, Correa and Buxton hitting their weight and Buxton is headed down fast. They do look foolish on breaking balls, don’t seem to pick up the spin and lay of out of strike zone pitches. Also watch to many fastballs go down the pipe. Very frustrating to watch.
April 6, 2024 at 10:02 pm #2265617just watched the replay and had to shut it off for my own sanity. i just cant get excited about this team at all but trying to. losing their best pitcher and hitter for the start of the year is tough to swallow. hope they stay in it but there is not much to get excited about.
BrittmanPosts: 2010April 7, 2024 at 8:33 am #2265631In the first two home games the Twins have 22 consecutive at bats failing to drive in a base runner in scoring position.
It has been pretty much this way all season.
April 7, 2024 at 10:22 am #226564814 more strikeouts yesterday. Saw Julien take another heater well in the strike zone. Baldelli says they need to make better contact. Really?
April 7, 2024 at 3:24 pm #2265687As frustrating as it is, they started the exact same way last season and while it took them awhile, and I had hoped they’d start the year realizing it, they did FINALLY realize they needed to change their approach after a couple months of terrible hitting last season. They will get better. Although the K’s probably won’t come down much.
A positive to look at is the bullpen has been really good, even without Duran and Theilbar.
April 7, 2024 at 9:11 pm #2265740on paper and real world, the pen is absolutely top 5 in the league. they can always add another starter via trade if they are buyers but it may not matter if the bats can’t get going. losing Royce sucks and it should be next man up but hopefully they stay afloat for a few months

Yep, they also started with an unprecedently bad average(or lack thereof, meaning 0%) with the bases loaded. I think they were like 0-20 with the bases loaded and even 0 outs.
I’m sure losing a bat like Lewis effects more than just losing him in the lineup, the guys who are still playing are likely just as bummed as he is.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23319April 8, 2024 at 9:39 am #2265826Any idea how much longer Lewis will be out?
I think most are saying 1 month until he can start rehabbing, then another month until he MIGHT be ready. He’s young so hopefully it’s just the 2 months.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23319April 8, 2024 at 1:54 pm #2265927My guess is Lewis is out another 6 weeks. I am not a Dr but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
April 8, 2024 at 2:48 pm #2265949Hey Dutchy! Our buddy Miguel Sano pitched last night for the Angels.1/3 of an inning, 3 pitches all strikes. No hits, walks, or runs. Maybe with all the positions the Twins tried him in, they missed his best one!
April 8, 2024 at 8:47 pm #2266022I just turned it on. Is that David Koresh on the mound for the Twins lol
April 8, 2024 at 9:29 pm #2266029Another feeble effort by the offense. Three hits for the whole game really isn’t gonna cut it.
RipjiggenPosts: 11792April 10, 2024 at 12:38 pm #2266464Current streak is 0/27 with runners in scoring position.
I believe it got to 0-29.
Maybe today!
April 10, 2024 at 5:40 pm #2266542Julian 3-4 today with 2 homeruns in the win. Otanie got gunned down at the plate on a perfect relay. Atteberry might not be my cup of tea.
