Think maybe they need lessons in pain tolerance. In hockey a dude takes a puck to the face, gets stitched up and is back out. Look at JJ and Love both gonna play this week. Buxton dives once and is out for a month, Royce runs hard once and is out. Dude the other day ran into the 2nd base ump and laid on the ground for ten minutes like he got steam rolled. Santana dives around first base everyday and hes always out there. Think the moneys to good where alot of the guys are just soft. No need to play through anything. Cal Ripken must wanna puke watching all the minor crap that keeps guys out.

The scrub is going to miss his biggest fan tho if he is still playing these days?

Pretty sure it was over when Correa went out then it was just domino after domino. I still check box scores time to time for funsies but even 100% healthy, they are no match for a handful of teams.

    See yall next year!

It was over when they slashed the payroll in the offseason. I’m honestly glad I can’t watch them because it’s saved me a lot of frustration and helped me not care nearly as much.

He has 3 or 4 REAL players that choke at the worst time, a bunch of AAA players, and no pitching. Hard to say it’s on Rocco but he has made some pretty dumb decisions lately regarding pitchers.

Every manager has his quirks and favorite strategies, but if Rocco would’ve been the Twins manager back in the late 80’s when I started to love baseball, I’m not sure if I’d have loved it as much. Tom Kelly could make coffee fall asleep, Ron Gardenhire couldn’t stay calm enough, Paul Molitor tried but didn’t have the leadership or something, and yet I found them all tolerable. And they all had some good seasons. But Rocco just sucks the fun and life out of the game for me. I loathe him. A close second is Falvey, and right behind him are the Polads.

Who do the Tigers have? I realize they haven’t exactly lit it up, but they might beat us right now with a healthy roster. They have “It” and we don’t. I think when managers have “It”, their players choke less often.

His pitching decisions are the worst! I get his talent pool and everything else but my g – d, If I was pitching on his team we would have some words over his decisions!!! Why did Zebby HAVE to COME OUT in the middle of the 5th yesterday? Boy, did THAT decision pay dividends. Happens to Rocco all the time.
I LOVE baseball but like pail of Perch says ” he sucks the life out of the game” aaaagfggghhhhhh

Like the poor Festa kid I bet half his era has come from relievers clearing the bases everytime he comes out.

    Per KFAN.

Well they need to sweep the Marlins and take 1 out of 3 from Baltimore. This puts the Royals needing 5 wins out of 6 … Twins win the tie breaker if tied at the end of the regular season. Lopez has 1 start and Ober 2.

Believe it or not the Royals are playing worse than the Twins the last 10 days.

    Enjoy wave

The other thing is, Detroit still has 3 games against the White Sox remaining. The Sox are historically bad. That’s essentially 3 wins guaranteed for the Tigers.

They have like no chance to make the playoffs now right? Read they could go 4-1 and still not get in.

I’d be part of that club myself but I find myself in a predicament with two (4 and 6) boys who are just getting into the game. I actually went to two games this year and honestly they are a lot of fun for the kids, as much as I hate parting ways with money that will go to the Pohlads. And the kids are at the age where they want to latch onto superstars so they know names like Lopez and Correa….but they can’t watch them on TV because the team has been screwing up viewership for years.

I think I joined that bandwagon. On the half ass this morning Shaver and Nick were arguing about the reason no one showed up last night for a meaningful game. Randy’s take was that people are sick of the Pohlads way while nick was arguing the product on the field the last month or so. Both are correct IMO and I’m just going to enjoy watching some good playoff baseball that won’t involve the Twins. I think it’s pretty wide open and will be nice to see Shohei in the playoffs finally, unreal what he has been doing.

What a colossal collapse…I put 25% blame on Rocco, 50% blame on Ownership and 25% blame on the players…

imo the Twins need to do the following:

    1) Completely replace their Medical and Training staff, way too many players injured year after year… something needs to change…
    2) Fire Rocco, we just need a different mentality on how to win baseball games…
    3) Ownership needs to be asked direct questions by the media about what their intentions are with this team, how do they justify reducing payroll AFTER a playoff series winning season before?

    What a colossal collapse

X2 – From 2nd best record in baseball (NL & AL) to not making the playoffs in six weeks. That has to go down as top 5 biggest chokes in all of major league sports. chased

I kind of hope the Pohlad’s come out this offseason and say they can’t afford to sign anyone this year because of that missed playoff revenue… chased chased

I’m sure the pundits have done the number crunching but I haven’t gone digging too deep. Definitely toward the bottom in almost all stats, .217 team average over the last month which is dead last in the majors. Also second to last in HR. Pitching not much better. Just bad bad bad.

Don’t disagree with either but I’m sure if the team would have played even .500 ball the last 6 weeks the crowds would be just fine.

I think they were officially eliminated from post season contention last night, weren’t they?

Its time for the Rocco removal talk

I think that’s fair only from a situational standpoint. No, and I repeat no, manager will likely make even an ALCS with this ownership. Any new manager would likely be given the same old discount team from the start and be asked to put on a smile and say the right things. So while maybe Rocco should go,I honestly couldn’t care less because it doesn’t matter what manages this pathetic franchise.

Now the other side, does this collapse warrant a firing? Absolutely. We see coaches in all sports finish above .500 but miss the playoffs and get fired all the time, or make the playoffs but have an early exit and get fired. This was an absolute collapse season and is probably deserving of a firing.

I just don’t think it matters one bit and honestly, who would want that job?

The complete collapse of the Twins is EPIC. Sad really, I enjoyed the two play-off series in 2023 (Toronto series a bit more).

KC and Florida Marlins have won world series on a small budget … it can and has been done, but the odds are very low.

I found this on the internet … start low, but invest when there is an opportunity … something the Twins also refuse to do.

Only three World Series champions—the 2017 Astros, 2015 Royals and 2003 Marlins—ranked in the bottom half of MLB in opening day payroll. The 2017 Astros (Justin Verlander) and 2015 Royals (Johnny Cueto, Ben Zobrist) both made midseason trades that put them into the top half of payroll by the end of the season.

I suspect that Ryan and Ober are only here until their options and arbitration contracts remain place.
