Arraez has difficulty sliding also. I think he hurt himself last year sliding into second.

A lot of Twins have hurt themselves because of terrible sliding over the past few years.

Definitely a good draw to start the season. I’d like to see the bats work tomorrow though. Schedule gets a bit tougher after we leave KC.
April 2, 2023 at 8:11 am #2192803“Kudos to the training staff for keeping Byron moving like that on Game 2 of the season”
Baldelli on Byron running the bases aggressively. This guy is never going to change. What a ridiculous statement.
Joe Ryan starts today at 1 pm. Shutout streak to 3 games?
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22282April 2, 2023 at 2:13 pm #2192847These rule changes actually make the game so much more enjoyable to watch. I could never sit through a 9 inning game before but when they get done faster than an NHL game I could.
April 2, 2023 at 2:25 pm #2192850I’m still anti re-play but I agree these games are just breezing along so far this year.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22282April 2, 2023 at 2:46 pm #2192853I agree. I wasn’t sure the changes were going to make any difference but it’s great. Seems like a lot less in game moves as well.
I will swallow some pride and congratulate Gallo on a very nice game. And Jeffers for that matter.
April 2, 2023 at 3:16 pm #2192856Kepler 0 for 2023
Took care of business this weekend! Good to see the bats come alive today and even Pagan couldn’t ruin it, even though he tried his best. Much tougher test in Miami tomorrow.
Brad DimondPosts: 1434April 2, 2023 at 3:48 pm #2192859Another good start for the staff, Ryan seems to be the real deal.
Gordon also 0 for 2023. I’d be happy if Buxton stays upright, continues to hit like he has to date.
Rocco ran Pagan out there, just can’t resist. “He’s got good stuff” – but can’t resist grooving a fastball for someone to pound.
April 2, 2023 at 3:53 pm #2192860no lead is safe with Emilio serving steak
I just don’t get why he gets hit so hard? He has a plus heater, good off speed stuff and he throws strikes. If anything he leaves the pitches in the zone too often but what the hell do I know.

You answered the question yourself. Doesn’t matter how good your stuff is if it’s always over the middle.
April 2, 2023 at 4:48 pm #2192864Pagan needs to hit a few guys. The at bats against him are to comfortable.
Slipbob nickPosts: 131April 2, 2023 at 9:53 pm #2192892Been debating of going to the home opener Thursday. Has anyone heard or any thoughts if it will be postponed temperature wise?
April 3, 2023 at 7:07 am #2192907Haven’t heard anything about it being postponed but heard it’s probably going to be miserable.
April 3, 2023 at 8:14 am #2192929Thursday’s forecasted game time temp is 33 with a windchill (west wind at 18) of 22. Friday is an open date with a forecasted game time temp of 46 with windchill of 40. Pussy Baldelli will get ‘er postponed. If not you won’t see Buxton, aka Frozone, on Thursday.
Within the last few years, I’m pretty sure they postponed a game for “milder” conditions.
They should do it now so fans can change their plans.April 3, 2023 at 5:42 pm #2193073Same starting lineup for 3 out of the first 4 games. That’s unheard of for a Baldelli team.
April 3, 2023 at 5:45 pm #2193077Well, Kepler isn’t 0 for 2023 anymore. Gallo hits another, and the bats are going today.
April 3, 2023 at 8:02 pm #2193124EPG is looking for the lawn chair again…..
I was just thinking the same thing
April 3, 2023 at 8:44 pm #21931374-0, bats waking up, pitching still very good. We’ll see what they are made of tomorrow going up against Alcantera.

who the fook is that guy? never heard of him and pretty sure our squad has never seen him either…..bring it on! I am kind of excited to see Maeda actually.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22282April 4, 2023 at 11:59 am #2193278This pitching staff has been a welcome surprise. Aside from Pagan who has been a bit of an adventure so far the rest have been very good. That Gallo can really pound the ball too!
April 4, 2023 at 12:14 pm #2193281I’m honestly not surprised by the starters. I know it’s the Twins and that puts doubt into any moves they make having any kind of validity, but they brought in good starting pitching. Now, it’s only been a week so we really don’t know how good they are going to be, but I think we can safely say it’s going to be exponentially superior to last years pitching staff.
Maeda will be interesting to watch today. He fought his control during spring training which is expected coming off tommy john, but in his last spring start he said he started feeling like himself again. I still think it’ll take some time for him to get back to himself, but having Maeda as your fifth starter AND a guy in AAA in Ober that can be called up and trusted if Maeda can’t hack it……That’s a really nice rotation.
April 4, 2023 at 12:49 pm #2193292Maeda is just a guy, a 3 at best, a reliever at worse. He will get knocked around today.
