That’s why it’s key to get Lewis back at third, Polanco at second and DH Julien. I actually liked our scrub lineup from yesterday better because it was a bunch of vets that know how to hit good pitching and it showed. Limited k’s hits the other way and took advantage of mistakes when they could. The young guys couldn’t figure out how to do that against Verlander. I’d argue at this point in time Valdez is a better pitcher than Verlander.

Especially how he matches up against the Twins who generally suck against lefties.

I agree with you on most of your post, with the exception of the dang good fielding. I think there are days when Edouard Julien and Jorge Polanco could play catch and someone would get killed.

I was going to add that as long as the players are in their normal positions because Polanco should not be at 3rd at all.

First pitches at Target Field. Now that’s cool

Game 3: Johan Santana to Joe Mauer
Game 4: Gary Gaetti to Dan Gladden

Man, the Phil’s have a good shot at taking out the big time favorites! Already up 1-0 in game 2.

Royce is back playing 3rd today! that’s huge! allows Julien to DH and lead off and set the table…

Really need Wallner or Kirilloff to swing the big sticks today!

The pitcher we’re going against today is primarily a flyball pitcher, Wallner gets into one and its gone…

Agreed Joe. He has been struggling though which I hope he gets hot soon. The kid can hit it a mile, it will be just a matter of time I am sure I just hope we have enough time for that to happen.

He’s streaky for sure, he’ll get likely 2 at bats today, more if he’s effective and they don’t bring a LH reliever in……

Shadows maybe? Either way he hasn’t been impressing me this postseason.

He got lazy and didn’t get in front of it. Probably had a lot of spin on it too. He’s definitely had a tough series.

Tommy must have a rotator cuff injury from sending so many guys to their doom…

That is going to loom large. Could have led to a big inning but we will never know now.

This is exactly what I meant when I said I like the lineup we put out against the lefty in game 2 because we had veteran hitters in. Lewis was so amped up he swung and missed three times and wasn’t within a foot of any of them. Wallner same thing. They aren’t taking professional at bats and it’s hurting the team this series.

It’s weird how the Twins hitters can’t see with the sun but Houston can. whistling
