Not to put a damper on this wonderful moment but I take it this earns Rocco a new contract?

Nvm looks like he’s signed through 2025. Probably takes him off the hot seat though if he was ever on it

It’s funny how much different this thread looks than back about 20 pages.

    Go Twins.

Go Twins! FYI, DYK There hasn’t been a nine-inning complete game in the playoffs since 2017, and there hasn’t been a complete game shutout since 2016. We will never see another Jack Morris moment.

My DVR stopped recording with one out in the top of 9th. So I didn’t even get to see the finish! So bummed!

But… I agree with Joe. Having competitive playoff baseball is something we haven’t had in a long time. Feels pretty good!

    Go Twins!

If you want to see REAL fans, go to the hockey thread……. They get into arguments about OTHER teams.

Going to need those bats to wake up a bit if we want to get by Houston.

Definitely. Take two big swings away from Lewis in Game 1 and they lose 1-0.

Did you watch our pitching staff? 1 run in 2 games. THEY are going to have to get some barrels on balls and past our defense. Flat out there isn’t any pressure on us anymore. Twins are going to beat them in 4 games.

I do agree with a little more offense, but in the playoffs, pitching wins and we have some of the best. Now with guys healthy and a few starters in the bullpen that can pitch at max effort for an inning also, Twins are ROCK SOLID on the hill. Heck, yesterday every guy that came into the game after Sonny threw at least 1 pitch over 100 mph. We have some HAMMERS out there now.

Agree that everything now is just icing on the cake! No expectations and no pressure for them!

Think Lopez goes game 1 Saturday and Gray game 2 Sunday both on 3 days rest? I’d assume so, that would enable them to pitch twice in the series, Lopez would go again Wednesday and Gray for game 5 on Friday if need be. Plus neither went too long in their starts, nor are expected to.

Who would the third starter be? Ryan would be my guess.

I’d assume so, but haven’t been following until hopping on the bandwagon recently chased rotflol . Maeda maybe? Ryan has been getting lit up down the stretch I believe.

I’d assume like you guys thought, Lopez, Gray, Ryan. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but if they had to, they could even go with a bullpen game because they have Varland, Ober, and Maeda in the pen and it probably wouldn’t be too bad.

But let’s hope the bats get going and we won’t have to see that.

When all that back and forth fighting is going on in that thread I feel like that meme of Homer Simpson backing into the bushes.

Im not so sure about a bullpen game, do they really work? Didnt the BlueJays try that somewhat yesterday?

I hate them normally but the Twins have 4 solid starters in their bullpen at the moment so I was just thinking outside the box.

Yeah, you are right that might work. I forget that the roster is a bit more expanded now for the playoffs.

Rocco will save Lopez & Grey for games 3 & 4 at home. Ryan / Varland game 1 Ober / Maeda game 2.

Yep, watched most of both games. No doubt that our pitching staff is the best it’s been in YEARS. But you can’t completely ignore the fact that if you take away one Royce Lewis swing in game one and it’s a tie ball game.

Ultimately, if you win by one or ten runs, you still win the game. But I’ve been a Minnesota sports fan for too damn long to be comfortable in these 1-2 run games.

I understand your thinking, and you might be right, but I’d sure think trying to win the first two on the road you’d want your best starters going.

I can’t imagine Sonny and Pablo going on 3 days rest with the way this team operates. Sonny would probably pitch tomorrow if they let him.

I would like to see Ober start game 1 and use Joe, Kenta or anyone else to fill in. Sonny and Pablo can suck it up and go in games 2 and 3. I’m sure Rocky will be tossing and turning the next 2 nights plotting his analytical attack

I was actually ok with pretty much all of the moves Rocco made. Jax scares the hell out of me pitching the 8th, but it worked out. I thought Rocco stayed out of the way for the most part.

It’s the playoffs man. Throw your horses. If anything it’ll be Ryan game one then Lopez and Gray.

Pitching has been great but wouldn’t expect to shut down the Astros. Gonna need to score a few too.
