I can’t believe Gallo didn’t swing at a couple of those sliders and ended up walking. Gotta believe Windmill gave him the “take” sign every pitch. lol

Gotta give them credit for the comeback. I thought they were toast after giving up the Grand Slam in the 4th

6 big games with Cleveland in the next 2 weeks. Division title will be decided. If the Twinks sweep at home it’s basically done.

ball is def carrying well today. that slam by royce looked like a fly ball. i don’t think i have seen many balls hit as far as Wallner hits them. this Funderburk fellow looks pretty good too.

Big boy, left handed, whats not to like? Bremer will have him up for the Cy Young in another inning.

I was just gonna ask what the hell is a Funderburk…. jester

Twins better start doing everything they can to keep Lewis healthy. That might mean not doing things the Twins way though…..Heard a report that China Doll is going to be playing centerfield in his rehab stint this week. That tells me they want him in CF for the playoffs. As long as he doesn’t look like he’s Sano at the plate I’m okay with that. He’ll have to prove that though.

Royce is the face of the franchise now and yes they better give him some rest as needed. run the Buck truck out there rest of the year, who cares. it’s absolutely absurd that he can DH everyday but not play center and chase a few fly balls. injuries are part of the game and if you can’t run then retire already.

As I watch the Twins I think it is Correas team. I think he is the leader. He may not have the offensive stats but he is the glue that keeps the defense together.

Correa is one of the best defensive players I have watched in a Twins uniform. Maybe he is saving his best for October? If he does not get a gold glove, I would be shocked but I don’t watch other teams. He has gutted out the season with his foot injury and I can appreciate that.
Sounds like AK and Buck back once the rosters expand. I still want to see Stewart back for peace of mind.

It has been a disappointing season at the plate for Correa. But he’s at least contributing now. He’s been fairly consistent over the last month.

We can see the repairs to the field needed after a concert. On Sept. 16 is a football game at Target field. What is the carnage to the field going to look like? I feel for the grounds crew. They’ll be working around the clock to get the field ready for a Twin’s game on the 22nd. Why not play this game at US Bank?
    Oh yeah, another money grab!!!!

I have a feeling Correa is going to turn it up offensively from here into the playoffs. This is historically bad for him right now and I dont think there is any way that continues all year. His defense is unreal though. Man can he fire the ball to first.

Correa is a player that can drive me mad. He has hit into 26 double plays this year. His batting average is below par.
That said he is a phenomenal defensive player! His arm is second to none in the league in terms of strength and accuracy.
It is like every other sport, the hitting will come around – hockey players finding only the pipes, basketball players finding only the rim, quarterbacks a half step off their receiver….
I am hopeful that when playoffs arrive, if we are there, we will see the leadership, focus and guidance for our younger players that he can provide.
Eyeguy you are right- we’ve all been saying it all along – play the kid and make him earn his money – if he breaks then that’s that- screw this mollycoddling of our franchise player! Prove you’re that guy then maybe some lovin but right now your young bucks are tearing it up and it is fun to watch.
The young bucks bring some amount of error to the game ( like every other team deals with) and we just have to hope it doesn’t bite us.
I am way more excited for Kiriloff than Buxton. Buxton is a distraction I don’t think we can afford.
Funderburk! Holy cow that was FUN to watch!
The name originated in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. In German it was Von der Burg.
Adolph I Von Der Burg, Merchant Prince, 1078-1152, built Schloss-Burg Castle, which is a state-owned historical site near Solingen and Deutschlandsberg, Germany. More loosely translated, Man of the Castle

He has to prove he is better than Taylor at the plate. At this point I am not sure he is. Defensively it’s probably a wash. This team is going to turn over to a young infield minus CC soon enough. It will be CC Lewis Julien and Lee’s team soon enough.
Buxton is going to be the old man soon.

    RIP,
Can’t wait to see that happen.
Yes, if Taylor could hit even marginally better I’d take him over Buxton EVERY day. Bunts, steals, good defense, knows where to throw the ball and not breaking the bank either.

I agree Rip. I think Buxton is just about done here. Unless he shows he can hit the last month of the season I’m starting Taylor and not feeling guilty about it one bit. Only issue with Buxton out is they will probably try to play Lewis in CF again and that’s the last thing I want to see.

Don’t forget Wallner in that core group!

I think Buxton returning will just mess things up. Not like their playing great I just dont wanna only hear about him. Hopefully can keep Polanco at 2nd base all the time. Hes a good fielder but hes proven many times his side arm throws are not real accurate from short or 3rd base.

Brooks Lee is most likely their future 2nd basemen.

I Wasn’t forgetting about Wallner. I was more listing their highest level and highest draft picks that are the core.
As good as Wallner has been he is a corner outfielder that I am not sure is a core piece to their future like the others I listed. Twins and probably others have always had big hitting corner outfield prospects who seem to fizzle.
Not a knock by any means. Hope he is.

China Doll brings the power threat. He will play.

For all his power wallner is hitting .230 but he’s young yet.

Are the Games getting longer again since the All Star break. More time between innings? More concession sales, TV adds? Maybe I’m imagining it but it sure seems to be dragging on again. Early on it seems 2-2 1/2 hour games were the norm.

Still shorter than NFL games. Although they are getting longer. Every hitter takes his one allotted time out which adds to the length.

Have been noticing that as well. 2:46 last night for a 4-2 game. As mentioned, players have found loopholes to take a little more time.

It’s because we aren’t seeing 2-1 games 4 out of 5 games a week anymore.

Sonny Gray has to be frustrated with his team. 2.92 ERA and only a 7-6 record. This team just refuses to pull away.

Sonny pulled after 81 pitches, The starters will never get a chance to pitch long into games as Rocco needs to get his daily 5 relief pitchers in. This was a game that Sonny could of went the distance and get him ready for the playoffs and longer outings.
