In 1987 when the Twins won the World Series they had a regular season record of 85-77. 4 teams in east had a better record. They had good pitching. A lot of similarities. Not saying they are going to win it but nobody gave them a shot in 87 either.

While I agree business is business weren’t you one of the guys ripping the Twins for giving up on David Ortiz?
    [/quote]

I was probably 10 years old when that happened but pretty sure everybody ripped the Twins for giving up on a Hall of famer?

We talking bout Jose Lopez here tho…..I think we are safe that he will not have a career like Big Papi

Are we done with the Pagan experiment yet?

That was my fear with Pagan. He was going to pitch his way into big situations and start giving up bombs again…….

Can someone remind me why Pagan is still on the team?

I can feel the breeze from the swing & miss all the way up here. 18 k’s through 8….impressive.

A real Grade A train-wreck for the bullpen tonight.

It never made me feel better about him, but he’s been pretty darn good for the last month.

Because his analytics and spin rate are good despite what your eyes see (seriously Gleeman made that argument on KFAN recently) and the Pohlads are required to pay him regardless…

I am just as much of a Pagan hater as the rest of you, but you can’t say he wasn’t really good over the past month. I think he gave up one run in like 15 innings. I’m not defending anyone here, just stating facts. That’s why I’m still afraid of him, because he is (or was) to the point where Rocco started to trust him again and now he’ll be put in big spots again. And we all know what happens when he gets put in those.

I agree with the last month – he’s been pretty good but I just don’t think that’s the “norm” for him.
Decent speed and spin but he’s got a problem with pressure. too bad

I completely agree with you mahto. Pagan has been bad when thrown in to pressure situations and it’s easily noticed. But he’s been really good when he comes in at the beginning of the inning and scoreless inning of relief isn’t noticed.

Last night Moran was bad. Pagan had just one bad pitch.

Exactly. Moran was the bigger problem last night. Again, I still don’t want Pagan coming into those situations, but last night was on Moran in my opinion. If he does his job Pagan isn’t even in the game.

Well still worried about Ryan. People are jumping on him early and he’s giving up HR after HR. He and the catchers need to get a new sequence of pitches down. At least the bats showed up today.

Time to right the ship again. The opponent up next are the vaunted Royals.

Bummer to drop those two to the Mariners. Bound to happen, but..

I don’t disagree about Pagan entirely. However once you find out a guy is a liability and can’t handle pressure it’s typically best to ship him right away.

I don’t think they can afford to. They don’t have a ton of guys that can handle mop up roles and actually do it successfully. Pagan showed he can do it and save the guys who need to be saved for big spots.

They dealt Lopez today. Pagan I think is safe but who knows.

Holy crap, I just saw the replay of Wallner’s second home run. Oppo to left center over the bullpen and into the upper deck. That’s some serious power.

What was your favorite Jorge Lopez moment?

Mine was yesterday when he packed his bags. Business is business. Nice to see them admit failure for once instead of ramming a square peg in a round hole. Let’s get a right handed bat and a lefty out of the pen.
Kepler, Wallner or Larnach should be able to get you one.

Geez why not add Correa & Gray & Ober and gut the team completely.

    gutting our team????????

so you don’t think we should move one of our 3 left handed outfielders for a right handed bat or a lefty out of the pen?

brilliant…….where do you suggest we play all of them?

    Kepler hot…..sell high
    Larnach former 1st round pick
    Wallner probably holds most value?

    not sure?

i remember he was awful out of the pen 3 years ago and then Wes came on as the pitching coach. basically added 5 mph to his fastball and was lights out last year. i trust the guy

Another melt down. This time by our closer who walked the first two batters and then gives up the walk-off. Against the Royals of all teams what a joke.
