Until they bring Wallner back I don’t see anybody that should be out there in front of Kepler. He’s not great but he won’t hurt you in the field either.

    X2 but I’m biased!

Wallner’s hittin the chit out of the ball!!

Rocco’s spreadsheets blow another lead. So bad. Vasquez was sitting two feet outside to make sure he didn’t hang that pitch and Headrick still left it up. Sad really.

I’ll give it to your boy Kepler. He’s had a nice night.

Was refreshing to see the Twins play some piranha-like ball last night and string together base hits. Granted it’s the Royals, but hopefully in the right direction.

I’ve been saying for a couple months the bats can’t get much worse, but they keep proving me wrong.

If Kepler could figure out how to do that more often he could salvage his career.

well the Royals can make anyone look good so there is that. i think i heard they have one of the easiest schedules rest of the way. amazing how some contact and stolen bases can lead to productivity.

speaking of contact, Arraez is cooling off now sitting at .387

remember Spencer Steer? well he is on pace for .300 30 dongs and 100 RBI’s.

they will probably have to make some moves after the break if they plan on competing in the post season but i don’t trust they will make the right moves. Looking back have they made a correct move?

Arraez trade not looking good early on
Mahle trade looking bad as well with Steer raking
    Rogers trade for 2 bums
Cano traded for another bum Lopez
Berrios for 2 “supposed” top prospects that can’t get out of the minors.

maybe its bad scouting or desperation? they have made some nice signings but seem to miss more than hit on their moves.

The Mahle trade is the only one I hate. I’m still on board with Lopez. Rogers has been terrible since he left as I mentioned earlier. Berrios has also been brutal since he left. None of them would be helping this team win a lot more games this season. Time to get over it.

The bigger issue I have with these moves is they have all involved guys that were known to be injured or possibly injured. Other than Pablo Lopez.

Rogers had one bad year in a decade and is back to all pro form. that trade is an absolute failure because of the known arm trouble coupled with the amount of losses Pagan has been responsible for alone.
Berrios is back to being a number 2-3 dependable starter after a tough 2022 and looks like Martin and Richardson are not even close to contributing yet.
Both moves were made because they didn’t want to pay them. I just hope they don’t do anything stupid at the deadline

I would say other than the returns, the trades haven’t hurt the team. The players we got rid of other than Arraez (and Steer and Encarnacion Strand, which is why I hated the Mahle trade when it happened), haven’t done anything either.

Lopez will be fine. He’s been fine. I expect him to continue trending upward as he has the last couple starts.

And by not paying those average to below average “hometown heroes” we got Correa, Gray, and a couple other rotational guys. I’ll take it instead of having Rogers and Arraez. Like I said, having those guys here still wouldn’t change the outcome of the season.

You can view some trades anyway you like, but there is only one way to view the Joe Ryan for Nelson Cruz trade. The Twins stole him.

Tomorrow I would do the Arraez trade again. Without these front line starters we would be the A’s & Royals.

MN sports fans have a hard time realizing that good players on MN sports teams doesn’t mean they are actually good players. Case in point: Common Man got people hot on KFAN last week because he said Greg Gagne was a below average player. People got nuts over that. Gagne wouldn’t have started on most teams in the majors then.

Same with Kepler, Punto, Hocking, Ford, Sano, Berrios, Rogers, Radke. The list goes on and on. Some are good players, but the majority are so over inflated by local sports fans it’s almost laughable.

PS: I swear I’m not trying to pile on Kepler. He hit the ball the other way twice again today. I’m not sure if it’s actually Kepler playing anymore.

Remember, it’s over promotion by the team that gets the fans going.

You mean like Buxton hitting a balmy .241 for his career, and having a great glove that isn’t used in games as he is now a DH?

Every teams’ ownership/marketing teams/fans do it. The Twins are just very very good at it. Which of the last 15 years was the upcoming year not “their year” or did they not have “a young star in the making” ??? coffee

There’s been so many bad ones I forgot about Joe. Traded a rental for a top of the rotation arm.

Pretty amazing how loaded the Rays were to not even miss him

Listening to the radio on the way back from Bemidji this weekend and they talked about Rocco having a conversation with Kepler – pretty much do or die.
    Seems to have helped applause

Also, still beating this dead horse. Don’t care what Buxton has done the last couple of games. He’s a plague on this team for the long term – WAY TOO MUCH “lovin” for him from Bremer

Bremer is a team guy, no different than Paul Allen with the Vikings.

If we are talking trades, don’t forget the Graterol for Maeda trade. Graterol currently has a 1.95 ERA in the Dodgers bullpen and would be a nice power arm at the end of the Twins BP. I thought, and still think, he could have made it as a top-end starter but we will never know on that one.

That’s why I prefer to listen to the radio. Cory Provus learned from the best, Bob Uecker was a great mentor. Can’t stand Paul Allen as a football announcer, total homer and pretentious. Good thing I am a Packer fan although they’ll take their lumps this season.

Pablo is spinning a gem. 8 shutout innings will 12 strikeouts, less than 100 pitches. Will Rocco send him back out?

Great to see a complete game happens still once in awhile. Pablo Lopez seems like a good guy.

That’s two great starts in a row from Lopez. Would be great to see him put a bunch together. Yes it was the Royals but he would’ve done really well against any team the way he pitched tonight. Located everything and had a great mix. The Royals had no clue what was coming.

So much for that. If only they could play the lowly Royals more.

Today’s game convinced me the Twins won’t win the division. I’m sure some on IDO already said/knew that.
