Solidly in 3rd place now. I haven’t seen a word on China Doll. Either he has decided to take the rest of the season off or the pocket protectors have decided he needs the rest. Either way it looks like the team needs to continue without him.

I believe he has a clause in the contract with a bonus contingent on 100 games played. He’s currently at 92 games. Wouldn’t be surprised if the cheapskates are holding him back.

Doubtful, you wouldn’t sign a guy to a long term contract with a clause like that. If they did, Buxtons agent should be fired. Just my opinion, I have no knowledge of how the contract reads.

I think the ship is officially sinking. Look at the brite side, at least they won’t add to their MLB record of postseason losses. doah

How did we sink so far into complacency? Superstars that have mystery injuries, pitchers from AA, no hustle, and a manager that’s just fine with it

Lack of quality starting pitching is the #1 culprit again. If you have that, all of a sudden the gaps on most teams are minimized, or not noticeable.

Don’t disagree but they actually get through the fifth pretty decent for the most part. They gave up a lot of runs this year in 5th 6th and 7th.

I just want to give you guys props for sticking around all season for the inevitable waytogo

Would that being in a pennant race in Sept or your bagging on the Pohlads?

It was actually props for sticking around knowing they would fail at the seasons (or postseasons) biggest moment. Wonder how many games up they’d be if they signed some bullpen help this offseason, or a top 3 starter any offseason ever. As you can see my bagging on the Pohlad’s is inevitable, but you don’t need to wait around for it! whistling rotflol

We might actually get to see Rocco get booted after this dumpster fire two years in a row. I have my doubts but I can hope!

Rocky is one of my least favorite managers for sure. Just a tree stump out there, not sure if he ever smiles just monotone emotional response from him 95% of the time it seems. too many injuries to blame it on him i would think? when your franchise savior is a guy who can’t be on the field to lead by example it really brings down the morale. guys won’t say it but i guarantee it gets under their skin since it goes on every year. onto better entertainment!

Gardy would go out, and yell at umps, get thrown out. Did any of that matter?
We will end the season with the most weeks in 1st place-Does that matter?
Thought RB was very carefull with Byron but he is still out at a critical part of the season. We need better hitting and pitching.

The best kind of “ability” is availability.

We are still firmly in the honeymoon phase of the season with fragile players like Buxton. They’re just consciously choosing to prolong that honeymoon period. I’m in the boat of play him every day and what happens happens. It’s baseball. Let’s not confuse this with MMA or playing LB in the NFL for ****s sake. If holding him back is the master plan for pushing the Twins over the hump, best of luck. I’d never tie my reputation to that master plan as a manager. It’s just making fans of a mediocre team disgruntled.

Twins were leading the division with a 21-15 record and had won 3 of their last 4 games.

When “the guy” on your team doesn’t play you won’t win. I don’t care if it’s middle school baseball, JV football, College Basketball, or the MLB.

This isn’t rocket science. Buxton isn’t reliable. Until this organization stops trying to hang their hat on a guy who is paid to not work, the results won’t change. Stick a fork in them…one that skewers forward years until Buxton isn’t the savior and they realize he’s not something you can build around.

More disappointing to me than China Doll not playing is the results when he does play.
Yes he had 28 homeruns. But he was hitting a hair over .200 and only had 50 some RBI’S I think. Thats not the needed production. I have also said more than once I don’t like Rocco’s batting order. Although with the way everybody is playing it’s hard to come up with a decent order. I think Correa’s lack of production can be tied directly to batting 2nd.

This is exactly how I feel as well. He’s just painful to watch out there. Even the few times he has “lost it” on umps this season it looks forced and uncomfortable.

Falvine would have to admit they made a mistake if they fired Rocco now. They would much rather admit the injuries were the reason for poor performance.

Rocco’s your guy next year whether we like it or not…

Wow, Correa is on 2b and Watkins doesn’t tell him to hold or run on a hit to the outfield – hangs him out to dry at home by 10 yards… If Rocco doesn’t make a change in a 3B coach after the season, that is grounds for firing (both of them).

    …so Rocco pulls Ryan when he’s throwing a no-hitter?

You’re telling me a young kid can’t be extended with his pitch count in SEPTEMBER while throwing a no hitter?

    Wtf Rocco!

He’ll say we’re still in the division race and his arm needs protection for the Cleveland series… he’s delusional…

Ryan didnt look none to happy in the dugout. Bet he really would have been pissed if they finished trying to blow the lead in the ninth.

To be fair, there’s probably not a manager in the league who would have left a young pitcher in to throw 130+ pitches, just the way the league is now.

Pitch count is absolutely ridiculous, so why not count warm up pitches thrown before every inning?

    A Shiite show.
    Rocco should blow
    Watkins needs to go
    Buxton needs to be traded
    AS his lustre has faded
Correa is struggling at the plate
And playing havoc with our fate
    Our defense is stellar
    Especially our young fellars
    Get us some pitching
    So we can stop bitching
    The central is weak
    and we still look meek

No worries, not quitting my day job.
Watkins is TERRIBLE btw – how do you NOT address that?!
Play EVERYONE hard, take injuries where they come and go from there. STOP babying these guys for Pete’s sake.

I understand you are “in a race” but Ryan could have gone another inning. The game should not be about him throwing a no-hitter but at this point you can’t keep trotting out relief – I was shocked he let him go as long as he did

I thought the purpose of the season is for the pitcher to build up arm strength so we have are best pitchers able to throw more than 7 innings. The kid was pitching lights out and he was taken from the game and maybe his one chance to get a no hitter. Watkins should of been fired a month ago with Baldelli!
