    It’s a small chance but I think there’s a chance.

In other news, Austin Martin went deep in todays game, and they signed a minor league reliever Jhon Romero who had a nice year for the Nationals AAA squad last year and earned a small call up. Little more depth.

He had zero intentions of staying either way.

that’s why they may go all in yet? maybe the FO is content to see what happens up to the deadline to upgrade the pitching? that projected starting rotation won’t scare any lineup and if there is an injury…….Oh BOY, get the women and children out of the first few rows in the bleachers!

Nice debut for Correa. Nice diving stop and a line drive single. Joe Ryan looked pretty good too.

In the most “Twins deal” ever, the Twins sign Chris Archer……about 6 years too late.

Yeah, they’ve had an inflatulation with him for a long time. Not sure I get it and now he’s old and oft-injured. At least the cost is low.

I’m encouraged by all the signings this spring, but it still is shaping up to be a hit-first team without any dominant starting pitching. The offense might help them win during the season, but we all know with the playoff format and frequent breaks, pitching wins.

Problem is they still have only a few guys that can get on base. That really limits how far the almighty home run can take you. (By the way, Correa hit a dinger today)

In other disturbing new Falvey had a great quote about the Archer signing in today’s Athletic artical:

“I wouldn’t say it was a necessity to add another pitcher, but it certainly deepens our group.”

The stupidity of this guy amazes me.

Let’s hope he doing this as posturing – to turn around and package Archer and a prospect to get a front-line, legitimate starter. Won’t hold my breath though ~

Buxton HR and 5 RBI’s today. Even the Fatkid hit one over a wall. Where’s Dutchboy when you need him….Miss his chatter in here.

Winder might give fans a little to hope for the way he’s pitched this spring. But who knows how he’ll do if he makes the rotation out of camp. Jhoan Duran might be a ray of light for the pen too. Throws in the triple digits but can actually throw it over the plate. I think he’s had 5 innings of work this spring no ER and has struck out the side the last two outings.

I enjoyed bantering with him in this thread. It was all in fun.

I’m so excited for the Twins this year. Buxton has gone deep again today, twice, Correa deep again today! Jeffers has been looking great. I just really hope they start off strong and make a push for another starting pitcher otherwise we’ll be in the same boat we’re always in.

Against my better judgement, and due to much familial pressure, went to the Twins-Sox game on the 27th. First time at Twins Spring Training and it was an enjoyable experience. Nephews got a ton of signatures pre-game, and the bench guys came back to win. Classy move by the Pohlad’s to charge Target Field concession prices for glorified practices tho…

Hammond Stadium is an overall enjoyable experience… much better than the old days at (s)Tinker Field. I think I run into more neighbors at Spring training games than I do around home. Fun times ~

Maybe the 5 year, great Jake Cave experiment is finally over. Good fielder, but simply cannot hit at the major league level. Many, many chances. Just shows that first round picks (overall #2 like Buxton was) in baseball a lot of times just don’t pan out.

Let Gordon play CF/outfield as the back up, or just bring up other young outfielders.

After the collision in the outfield today with Kepler Gordon may be out a while. Man was that a collision.

Jake Cave was a 6th rounder by the Yankees in 2011. I had to google it, since 6 foot nothing, 200 and nothing slap hitters rarely go that high…

Makes more sense…I wouldn’t have drafted him that high either. I was going off this on the MLB web site:

We went 2 years ago and had a pretty good time. Probably would have been better if my then 4 yr old daughter didn’t get hot and whiny. But I do admit it was hot in the sun. Generally speaking I’d rather be beachside or on the water, but if the circumstances were right I’d probably go back and check it out again.

3 HR in three straight games for Sano. Haven’t seen him live yet but apparently he came into camp in really good shape. We’ll see if it helps him start a little quicker than August this year.

Really nice start by Gray yesterday and even Archer was hitting mid 90s which shocked me.

It’ll at least be an interesting season.

He’s still striking out damn near 50% of the time, I wouldn’t hold my breath….

Buxton has put on a show all spring long. .469/5HR/15RBI.

Please god let this guy play 150 games.

I actually think this team will score more runs than the past few seasons. But they’re going to need all they can get with the pitching staff they will trot out there.

Saw a Sano interview. He said he lost 30 pounds. Could lose another 30, too!!

It’s getting reported that the Twins are trying to trade for Chris Paddack from the Padres. If they pull that off without giving up Austin Martin, Miranda, or Balazovic this off season might go from a C to a B+. Now being reported the Padres want Taylor Rogers. I don’t think I’m doing that one if I’m the Twins. Paddack is good, lots of remaining potential, but he’s coming off a down year. Losing Rogers takes away the ONLY reliable arm in the pen and possible All Star reliever.

Also, the Saints game tonight started with a Mirando HR followed by a Lewis double. Both made great defensive plays on the left side of the field last night as well.

Gotta give up something from the future to get something for the present, no way around that. I remember when Michael Restovich was an untouchable prospect, lotta good that did. But then there’s the Wilson Ramos for Matt Capps scenarios where you trade a guy who would have been a starter for 6-10 years for a guy who helped us mildly for a few months.

This isn’t trading from the future. This is trading literally our ONLY reliable bullpen arm. I’m fine with trading some prospects (excluding, the very top ones) or Kepler (who is rumored to be wanted by the Pads as part of this deal) for Paddack. But Paddack isn’t a top starting pitcher. He’s been very mediocre but most people think he will become a legit number 2 or 3 starter very soon.

No way and I’m not following that pipeline! The Padres traded their #11 and #25 prospects for Manaea. No way on the planet the Twins give up top 3 or even top 10 prospects for Montas. Unless there is team control for a handful of years. If Montas is available, then it needs to be explored if this team is all in.

    Who was talking about Montas?

Rumors are heating up. Sounds like it could be a package deal for Rogers, Kepler, and Larnach for Paddack, Will Myers and Emilio Pagan. Rumors of course but most “insiders” making it sounds like multiple pieces on both sides could be moved.

Seams like a lot. I guess when you are desperate for pitching.
Trade any top prospect for pitching. More than likely you are getting a top one back at the deadline… whistling
