Anyone else find it strange that the Twins can never keep their top prospects healthy?

Buxton, Lewis, Kirilloff, Sano to an extent…etc etc

Ha..Back a few years ago when it seemed like all our pitchers were undergoing Tommy John, me and my buddies would tell each other that every pitcher they drafted should just go under the knife before they step in the minor league camp..just get it done with..

I’ve been saying they need to upgrade their training staff for years now. Nobody seems to think it’s a problem yet every year all our top players are hurt.

I used to say the same! Then they traded for a guy that already had it and is having it again. Must be contagious round here?

I’m just hoping it doesn’t happen to Duran😬

The way the game is you throw a reliever in the game, tell them to throw as hard as he can for as long as he can. When you throw 100 mph TJ isn’t a question of if but of when.

    As long as you can?
Hell starters barely get to the 5th inning and relievers don’t throw more than one. Can’t be that rough.

Well you can’t throw 100 either.

man i wish i could have had the arm talent to pitch. you work every 5-7 days for just an hour or so. or every other day for 10 minutes. then you retire before you are 40! man that is the life!

its ironic they traded Graterol who is the second hardest thrower in the league for Maeda and it was Maeda who had the TJ……you can’t make it up if you tried!

as bad as some of the twins arm decisions have been, i heard Chris Sale has pitched like 30 innings the last 3 years. i wonder how many Brinks trucks back into his driveway each year while he sits around the pool?

Totally agree. One of my all time favorite movies. I was worried about it when they first announced it but they absolutely crushed it. Such a cool game. Glad the Twins aren’t playing so I can watch something entertaining like this instead.

You don’t know that. Want to play catch?

And only one guy throws 100 on the twins…sooo..not like throwing hard or as hard as you can is something new. If anything pitchers are more coddled now than in the past. I would say your statement is the opposite in modern day baseball.

    ABSOLUTELY

they got to do this 4 or so times a year. not too much to ruin it but give the fans what they want and pump some cash into the local economy in a state with ZERO pro sport franchises…….so cool!

Through the same number of home games (55) the Dodgers have drawn 1.4 million MORE fans than the Twins.

windmill watkins sending Leon from second on a single to left is just comical. i love aggressive baserunning but this guy is not good at his job. if the team is serious about contending, they need to replace this guy. Nobody deserves to lose their job this late in the year but Conger can move to 3rd for now. I am pretty sure I could be a 3rd base coach and work part time for half the price of Watkins.

can anyone here forward me an application?

Yeah that’s what’s holding them back.

An impressive start by the new guy who actually went 6. rest of our starters need to step up and pull up their big boy pants.

What? You comparing firing a third base coach who probably affects 3 plays all year to trading for Verlander?

I was listening on the radio when Watkins sent Leon home. My only thought was how much he was going to be out by? I’m sure Leon was thinking WTF, I hope I don’t pull a hammy!!

To be fair Watkins probably has 6 of the most egregious decisions to send runners home this season that I’ve ever seen. I think he should be replaced as well. He has killed many rallies this season.

Stringing a bunch of hits together to score isn’t exactly this teams forte. We should be considering who is on deck when he sends these guys.

Ok 6 plays of which I bet half affected the actual final outcome of the game. Fire him? Sure why not but as stated if they are serious about contending it is probably number #72 on the list of things that need to be addressed.

I wasn’t saying he needs to be fired. But over a season you’d think a guy would start to figure it out. He clearly hasn’t. Maybe switch him and the first base coach. That’s where he was last season.

May be #72 on your list but it’s at the top of mine. This is the Twins not the Yankees not the Dodgers. They can’t afford mistakes that are easily fixed like swapping Watkins and Conger.
My list is only like 8 things so you might have to be more accepting?

I didn’t see the game or the play live. Was China Doll up next? If so sending Leon might not have been as dumb as we think. Rocco probably has seen enough swing and miss out of him.

don’t really matter so not sure. the point being made by me was this is not the first time windmill watkins has made terrible decisions sending runners. normally i would applaud the aggressiveness but you can’t bulldoze the catchers anymore so sending a lumbering man like Leon on that play was an awful decision and its like 5 or 6 of those now. may not matter regular season but that won’t fly in a playoff series
