Looks great if you look at this year alone. But normally we go after pitchers who had good numbers in the past and not the present. Guess this route should be better.

Well decent first move. Jorge Lopez from the Al’s. Pretty good closer. He is trending up statistically, but the lifetime 5.50 ERA and WHIP of 1.50 aren’t great. Compared to T Rogers who we traded away last year at 3.30 ERA and 1.11 WHIP.
A catcher is next…
His lifetime ERA is all starting pitching innings. As a reliever (starting this season) he has been fantastic.
August 2, 2022 at 11:00 am #2138983Good start, and glad to see them doing something. Now keep going and make about 3-4 more deals for arms. BTW When did they change the trade deadline? I always thought it was July 31st…
August 2, 2022 at 11:06 am #2138985The Padres are throwing down. Wish the Twins would do that once in my lifetime.

Gotta keep up with the yanks.

He’s an allstar and a completely different (good) pitcher since he was moved to the bullpen…They gave up basically nothing for him and he still has 2 1/2 years under contract.
It was a great pickup for the Twins and addresses one of thier biggest needs as a closer. If the Twins now take a lead into the 7th/8th inning, they have Duran and Lopez to close it out…
We still absolutely need another starting pitcher though…
August 2, 2022 at 11:54 am #2139005All low A prospects but for an all star closer so I did not think they would have done it. His only bad game was when Miranda walked him off if I remember correctly.
August 2, 2022 at 11:58 am #2139007The Padres are throwing down. Wish the Twins would do that once in my lifetime.
Padres had a stint of really bad teams and had a bunch of talent in the minors. Couple that with ownership that don’t care about writing checks and you can put together a nice team. Astros had same model.

3-4 more! At that rate they would not have enough players to field a team in the minors. I would be happy with one more arm but I am a realist
Walleye Man42Posts: 197August 2, 2022 at 12:10 pm #2139014now we need another starter and another reliever! Cade Povich was a 3rd round pick in 2021, that is the biggest prospect that we sent.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22284August 2, 2022 at 12:55 pm #2139022Lopez is under team control for two more years too.
Yeah, that sounds great. Hopefully they can get a starter to help out. Maeda is supposed to be coming back at some point isnt he?

That’s fine, we didn’t build a stadium in Minneapolis for Fort Myers to dominate. They need at least 1 front of the rotation starter, ideally 2, and at least one more bullpen arm if they are serious about competing in the playoffs. They chose not to sign anyone in the offseason, so here we are.
August 2, 2022 at 1:39 pm #2139031Maeda is hoping for Sept or post season but most likely as a reliever until the end of the season.
Walleye Man42Posts: 197August 2, 2022 at 3:08 pm #2139059Mahle is a Twin for Spencer Steer(#7 prospect) Steve Hajjar(#18) and Christian Encarncion-Strand (#23)
August 2, 2022 at 3:34 pm #2139067That’s two of our top prospects which sucks, but that’s what it takes to get a good starter. He’s not quite the caliber I was hoping for but he’s gonna help a lot.
August 2, 2022 at 3:54 pm #2139070Lots of trades today across baseball. Some big names like Juan Soto to the Padres.
Be fun to see how many traded guys make a difference either this year or the next few years.
August 2, 2022 at 4:03 pm #2139073Just saw a tweet we are getting C Sandy Leon for RP Ian Hamilton. Leon was with the Indians this year.
August 2, 2022 at 4:04 pm #2139074What I do like about the two pitching moves we have made is they both have years of control left.
August 2, 2022 at 4:54 pm #2139086Sounds like it is. The Mahle deal takes three big prospects out of the system but all three weren’t in the baseball’s top 100 lists. Take that as you will.
August 2, 2022 at 4:56 pm #2139088Michael Fulmer to the Twins in the late minutes of the deadline! Tigers reliever. Throws hard and is solid. Not as good as Lopez but better than what we have!

Be interesting to see which pitchers they now DFA/waive to make room… we can all make our suggestions here… ______________
August 2, 2022 at 5:37 pm #2139099Does this impress Correa or make him happy?
It does more than not doing anything. But a playoff series win would speak more I would think.
August 2, 2022 at 7:11 pm #2139121seen Fullmer carry his Tigers bag/gear into the Twins clubhouse today! that had to be a fun entrance especially since he got beat up pretty good last night
August 2, 2022 at 7:22 pm #2139124I see Cave is back and playing. Does that mean China Doll is DH’ing again?
