Haha is Wally still working? I use to see him at Wild Games working but thats been a few years.
Can’t imagine what the guys’ knees feel like now…

When I saw him last he would just stand outside one of the sections and sell beer. Hope he’s still around but also not selling beer anymore.
Would think he retired w COVID if he didn’t sooner.
Helluva booming voice.
Apparently the deal is done.
They better have about 6 guys verbally committed to sign the second they can start signing free agents or they are gonna get left in the dust for the second time this off-season
A deal has been agreed upon between players (Union) and the owners!
Baseball is back.
Now the Twins just need a starting rotation!
WOW
A 45-day window for MLB to implement rules changes — among them a pitch clock, ban on shifts and larger bases in the 2023 season The National League adopting the designated hitter
I know the analytical fans will bash me for it but THANK GOD they are banning shifts. Wouldn’t have needed to if hitters could actually hit these days though…..Time for free agency to go absolutely bananas……

Those are some interesting rule changes. Wonder why about the base size? THe others make sense.
Yeah I don’t get the base sizes either. Free Agency sounds like it will open up sometime tonight.
Can’t wait to sign Trevor Story, and Danny Duffy, Carlos Rodon and Zack Greinke……..

My initial guess would be due to the over abuse of using replay to catch if a baserunner is a millimeter off the base when the tag is applied.
What does it mean to ban the shift? Can 3B hug the line? SS and 2B shift to double play depth? Infield in? Outfield play close to the warning track?
How will it be enforced? Seems dumb to me.
What does it mean to ban the shift?
Just 2 infielders on either side of second I think. So you don’t have the 3B at SS, SS at Second, and Second at Rover.

Correct. And it’s a beautiful thing. It was starting to get out of control. Pretty soon we would have had 7 guys on the pull side of the infield.
28 minutes until the Twins start signing last years injured crop of pitchers!
One starter off the board that the Twins could’ve been looking at. I didn’t love Rodon but he’s better than 4 of our 5 current starters
Wait two freaking days for them to make a move and this is the one they make. And ok pitching prospect and Andrelton Simmons copy cat. They are mailing it in this season. I read an article from the athletic saying behind closed doors they are rebuilding. Just freaking come out and say it! You’d get more respect from the fans if they just said it already.
I will not be sending a dollar their way with the roster they are putting out. How embarrassing.

Aren’t they always rebuilding?
Now Sonny Gray I can like. If they prove me wrong I’ll be happy but they still have a long way to go.
First they trade Garver for a SS that you could just find on waivers and now they trade last year’s #1 pick for a guy who’s best pitching is behind him. Yeah he is the default “ace” of the staff but it didn’t take much to do that.
I did not like either move but it’s a typical Twins team chasing mediocrity. Until there is a salary cap in baseball, teams like the Twins are just playing for fun. If you like fun, go to a Saints game. Doesn’t help when the owners just care about turning a profit instead of trying to win. Maybe ARod is interested in buying the Twins?
Donaldson gone and well that shortstop you just mentioned as well.
Think I may finally get my shot with team this year.
Can’t wait to watch all the pass balls with Sanchez.
Holy smokes. I don’t know where this is going but at least it’s entertaining! Hopefully they are going after Story now and then at least get mediocre pitching. Still not going to be a good staff with what’s left unless they figure out a very creative way to get a good pitcher. I don’t even care anymore. All these wild moves are fun.

Last years number one doesn’t mean much because he was an extremely raw high school pick that most people thought was taken much too soon. High school picks are like a shot in the dark anyway. Not saying Gray is great but he was one of the better arms left.
Just a head scratcher. I don’t mind Urshela but Sanchez is a bad attitude, low average with some power, brutal defensive catcher. You get Donaldson off the books and I think they are trying to go after Story now. Still need half a rotation and half a bullpen though.

I think getting out of Donaldson’s deal is the win in this trade. Both Sanchez and Gio are still young enough to make some noise. The Kiner fellow does not move the needle either way for me. I like this trade, now what’s the next move?
Losing JD’s salary opens the opportunity to rebuild this team with a younger core of players. Don’t know if the acquired new guys are the key at all. However, the team was guaranteed to go no where and not add any real talent with Josh’s contract spot-locked and anchoring the owners self-imposed salary cap.
