The east has seen him plenty of times and absolutely crushes him. Won’t be long until the central catches up I have a feeling.

Pretty cool story on Devin Smeltzer on the Athletic today. Battled cancer since he was 9 years old. Even had a video showing him meeting Chase Utley as a kid when he was going through chemo. The video was from the Dodgers clubhouse later in Utley’s career and the manager brought up a picture of the two meeting that day, and then introduced Smeltzer who was then a minor leaguer for the Dodgers at the time. Pretty cool.

Easy to root for a guy like that.

I now have seen him plenty of times to formulate my opinion:

He will give you a chance to win when you play bad teams but when he has to go against good lineups, get the woman and children out of the first few rows in left field.

No lead is safe from Tyler Duffey

Time to install Duffy on the same list as the fat kid.

It was ugly but the Twins managed to take 2 of 3 in Toronto. That’s pretty impressive with the lineup and pitchers they were running out.

Also one of their emerging prospects Spencer Steer was destroying AA and has since been at AAA for the last 12 games has 3 home runs and 10 RBI, and hit 3 more today!

Well lets not forget they dropped 4 out of 5 to Detroit. So where do you plan on playing this Steer kid? Unless he is a catcher I don’t see much room for him.

He’ll probably push Polanco out at second base if he starts looking old to the regime.

I thought during 2019 that Polanco was looking like the second coming of Robinson Cano the way he was turning on balls from the left side and driving them. But the last 2 years he seems like he’s regressed. I think a little competition at 2B might either make him better again, or maybe he gets passed up. Or trade him for an arm… my broken record ~

Polanco had about the only good year for the twins last season. I think Steer is at least a year away still. Maybe two. He was the Twins 3rd rounder in 2019. Still pretty young.

Duffey is a mop up pitcher at this point. he is lucky and so is the entire team that they took 2 of 3 from Toronto. 16 yes 16 hits today and they redeemed themselves after the Detroit debacle i guess. got to love baseball where weird things happen. i just hope they can play well in September.

its amazing how well this lineup looks with the worlds greatest hitter Araez at leadoff.

Toronto had won 8 in a row too. They were hot. Duffey is actually being talked about being DFA’d by a lot of the writers. I’m not so sure. Baldelli seems to like him for some reason. It’s not like he’s been any good in the last couple years either.

Arreaz leading the league in hitting at .358…hmm what does he do differently than almost everyone else…?

No joke right! I’ve been giving Gleeman and all the other writers/analytic babies hell on twitter because they are now saying guys need to stop trying to hit home runs and it’s great to see guys stealing bases again and playing station to station.

All these idiots did was preach against all that for the past three seasons. I’m loving that the game is going back to the way it should be played and I have no problem letting the people that tried to ruin the game have it.

The game is SO much more exciting to watch when you have guys actually trying to play strategically. Steal bases, hitting against the shift, maybe even a bunt?! They all make the game much more fun to watch compared to an outcome of an at bat being either a K or a bomb.

Nothing pisses a guy off more then having the bases loaded with no outs and two straight batters strike out. Can’t even put the ball in play. I think the twins did that twice last week. Also, I hate the way they handle starting pitchers now a days, Smeltzer got pulled twice now with less then 80 pitches.

Why wouldnt they pull him hes given up 6 runs in his last 28 innings. Fans wanna see runs scored thats why we keep putting in Duffy. It is sickening like 3 starts ago 2 hits in 7 innings cant remember exact number but like 80 pitches pull him and bull pen gives up a few runs without getting an out.

PROFESSIONAL at bats is the right answer. Some of these noobs on this roster could learn a thing or two watching the “sprinkler”

How about this Duran guy? SHeesh 105 MPH. They overlaid his slider and fastball and they start out the same, but the slider ends up out of the zone. Its just filthy stuff. When Berrios was on he could do the same thing, but not hit the speeds Duran can.

I think it was 103 but yeah. He was our top pitching prospect for the last few years. I think moving him to the bullpen will save his career and his arm. His splitter is even filthier than his curve. The best part about him is the fact that he was a starter and actually has 3 plus pitches AND a solid change up. Way more variety than your normal reliever.

Pagan Thielbar and Megill are back too. Alcala might be ready? Is this the end of the road for Duffey?

The Megill guy throws some absolute fire too then add Alcala and there are some absolute flame throwers in our bullpen. Im more of an offense guy but watching some power arms is new to me coming from years of the pitch to contact line of crap.

Maybe someday I’ll even compliment Rocky

I’m not a fan of Alcala. Sure he can hit triple digits but it’s straight as an arrow and over the heart of the plate most of the time. Just take a look at how low his K numbers compare to other guys that throw 100 and you’ll see the proof. That’s what makes Duran so good. He’s got crazy movement at 100 MPH.
