I also think we are getting close to seeing the end of Miguel Sano.
We can only hope…

Sanchez might eat as many cheeseburgers and strike out as much. Maybe you can shift to him!
April 25, 2022 at 8:10 am #2118924Yes, Sanchez and Sano are the same guy, however Sano has really upped his defensive game. Proud of him for that but he can’t hit. I’ve always been of the opinion the Twins kept him out of fear of him turning into another Ortiz. The time will come to part company with him as soon as we know Kirilloff will be ok.
Pitching has been crazy good so far. Nobody thought the starters would have help up this well after 3 turns threw the rotation.
Keep Buxton on the field and they will be fun to watch.
FryDog62Posts: 3696April 25, 2022 at 10:44 am #2118977Kirilloff may have a ligament in his wrist that doesn’t heal… He is a high ceiling guy I would take over Sano any day, but I have my doubts he recovers adequately if its his SL ligament. Many athletes (and a few amateur fisherman) have had that injury and even with surgery does not heal. Would be a shame…
RipjiggenPosts: 11588April 25, 2022 at 10:49 am #2118979I agree. I was shocked to see him get pitched to. Glad he made them pay. 3 in 4 in a row and back to .500. It would be pretty cool if this rotation somehow keeps this run going and the bats stay hot. I also think we are getting close to seeing the end of Miguel Sano.
Don’t you mean bat as in a singular person. Outside of Buxton nobody else is really hitting.
I could probably be considered a Buxton hater, but it has nothing to do with his abilities but his ability to stay on the field which I think is a legitimate argument.
Walleye Man42Posts: 197April 25, 2022 at 10:51 am #2118982Kirilloff is scheduled to play for the saints on Tuesday and Wednesday.
April 25, 2022 at 1:42 pm #2119052All the Buxton haters can lineup right now for their spankings.
I thought for sure he was going to tear a ligament celebrating. First place baby!

Ever hear of this Arraez guy that’s batting 370 something? Correa is starting to heat up and Urshela is doing pretty well also. The hitting won’t be the issue.
April 25, 2022 at 4:16 pm #2119106Why didnt they pinch hit Correa for Gordon at the end of the game yesterday. Kid whiffed at everything thrown at him.
April 25, 2022 at 4:34 pm #2119113I was at the neighbors and they had the end of the game on, why in the world wouldn’t Rocco pinch hit for Godoy (who?!?) before Buxton? They were down one, so needed a hit or go home, and thankfully Buxton provided it but should have ran someone up there with a chance.

Jeffers is dinged so they didn’t have a catcher if they hit for him. They traded everybody else in the off-season. I think Sano would have been the backup after Jeffers.
April 25, 2022 at 5:00 pm #2119128Dutch is right about not having anyone to catch if they took Godoy out. However Rocco had by my count, 3 at bats that he should’ve pinch hit Correa. But then again, I hate the way he manages this team so maybe I’m just being harsh.

I had a long response but the quote function must have eaten it. I’ll give you Arraez. So my apologies you can be plural but Buxton was responsible for 90 percent of the runs scored these last two games.
Not sure 1 hit in the series for Correa who only played in 2 games, I would consider heating up.
Second half of their lineup is pretty ucky right now
We shall see what happens with this crew, but not sure this movie ends any differently.April 25, 2022 at 7:06 pm #2119168Here’s my reasoning on Correa.
Over his last 7 games he has 6 hits and about 5 or 6 more that were belted but right at someone. Where he was grounding or popping out feebly at the beginning, he is starting to drive the ball. It’s coming.
I’m not saying this team is going to win anything but at least they are starting to win some games and are entertaining.
Aboxy17Posts: 433April 25, 2022 at 7:20 pm #2119171Pitching has been much better this year for the most part. So much more fun to follow along when Buxton is playing. Saw a stat that we are at a 75-win pace when he is not playing and a 101-win pace when he is playing over his career. Let’s just hope he somehow stays healthy and wins mvp.

Fair enough…
April 26, 2022 at 12:12 pm #2119361Correa also said yesterday he spoke to Falvene about staying long term. His wife likes it here and he likes the clubhouse a lot. That would be something if he actually stayed past a year.

Yes, and I would like to win the Powerball also.
RipjiggenPosts: 11588April 26, 2022 at 4:31 pm #2119444I wonder what it is his wife likes so much. The wind, rain or cold? Maybe she fell in love with MOA.

Bet she’s really into fishing for walleye…..
RipjiggenPosts: 11588April 26, 2022 at 4:41 pm #2119448My question we are not even a month in why would he be talking to Falvine about staying long term now?
Seems like the twins writers are bored already or Falvine is already selling the future card.April 26, 2022 at 5:00 pm #2119456Correct. Not Twins beat writers writing this. I know this is MN and we are MN sports fans but it could be possible that he actually likes it here.
I know, I know……..
RipjiggenPosts: 11588April 26, 2022 at 5:18 pm #2119461I think you guys glossed over this part.
Especially the part about competing for him in a normal free agent market. The best bet, of course, is that Correa will opt out. The Twins then would be forced to compete for him in a normal free-agent market as opposed to an unprecedented post-lockout frenzy in which no team offered him the long-term deal he wanted. Such were the conditions that led to his three-year, $105.3 million contract with Minnesota that includes opt outs after the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Didn’t gloss over it. It just means the Twins would have to offer him a new contract and him choosing to sign here. No one ever said it’s a going to happen. I just said it’d be something if he did.
April 26, 2022 at 6:49 pm #2119470Since my odds of being the sole winner of the Powerball tonight is greater than Correa not opting out i’ll offer this. If I win and he wants to stay i’ll help the Twinks out and cover his $35 million salary.
Just a fluff piece from Rosenthal.
