you sometimes open, and I mean OPEN UP 50% of the field. It’s not too exciting at all but I guess I’m ok with it.

This is why it’s so stupid that these guys don’t just push the ball into that 50% of the field. If I could do it they certainly can.

I’ll bet ya a pizza he doesn’t win 15 during the regular season.

Wins are the most worthless stats in pitching. We talking totinos?

bow “tbro and his damn math equations that dont factor wins in. What do you mean pitchers wins dont matter? Winning is the only thing that matters!”

    Pitcher A

    10-3 with a 5.05 ERA

    vs.

    Pitcher B

    3-10 with a 3.05 ERA

This is what I mean when I say wins don’t matter. Run support matters evidently.

Star Trib just reported that Walz will be allowing 10,000 fans at Twins games starting with the home opener! Also, indoor events up to 3,000 people and restaurants at 75% capacity! About time. Good news for sure!

Being better doesn’t always equate to wins, whereas wins always equates to winning titles.

    I’ll take 20 wins with a 5.00 era over 10 wins and a 2.00 every day.

I was responding to your DeGrom comparison. He won the Cy but the Mets sucked. My point is you need wins to win championships. They don’t give World Series titles to the lowest era.

Duffeys average fastball velocity is down almost 3 mph so far this spring. 3 homers and 6 earned in 3+ innings. At what point are we concerned?

I’m concerned if he’s not within an mph of last year when May comes around.

Maeda on Opening Day. Not much surprise there.

I caught just a glimpse of Sano the other day. I don’t think his cheeseburger diet is working.

Just notice that our old pal Kyle Gibson is getting the Opening Day nod for Texas this season……Not sure what their rotation looks like but that’s not who I’d like to roll out Opening Day. Happy for Gibson though. Seems like a good guy.

Yep. Then I saw 4 of our bullpen guys come in and not give up a run which was more important in my mind.

Berrios isn’t my guy. Maeda is my guy. I think Berrios can still be a top end starter. But I have never said he’s there yet.

Got an update on Duffey today. Sounds like his velocity was back up close to normal yesterday. He was asked if he was worried about his decrease and apparently he had no idea it had even decreased. Just him getting ramped up.

It will be a down Twins year for me. Not planning on attending any games, will be the first year of no live games in over 30 years. Left field bleacher seats just won’t be as fun without Rosario. And since YouTubeTV dropped FS North, won’t see them on TV to get me wound up. I will have the radio games on while out fishing in the new boat though, a radio was a must.

That’s a shame your fandom hinged on Rosario. Most corner outfielders acknowledge their fans near them. I’m sure you’d still enjoy going to the games. Especially when a better player will be playing left field.

All those airmailed throws from Rosario probably were pretty impressive from the LF bleachers though…..

I wouldn’t say it hinged on Rosario, just one reason, COVID would be also high on the list. Rosario just played the game in a way I admired, even though he had his downfalls, he had fun with everything, and tried to make it fun for the fans. Ultimately, they get to play the game because of the fans, so a little fun for the fans goes a long way in my book. Its the reason I like Miguel Cabrera also, he makes the game fun. Hrbek made it fun.

Kepler, great guy, good player, but not fan fun. Same for Buxton, cartoonish, but not fan fun. I don’t know Alex Kirilloff well enough to know if he is fan fun.

For a team like the Twins, up and down, because of how the MLB runs their $$$$ business, the team needs some personality. I just don’t see that in this team. Although I am a big fan of Cruz as well.

I am not a big fan of Bryce Harper, but at least he makes it fun for the fans.

I haven’t gone to too many games over the past couple years so I guess that doesn’t really matter to me. I’m there to see good baseball and wins. I will probably go to a few this year, but will most likely be spending more time over in St Paul with the Saints. Mostly because I like that ball park and would rather give that city my money than anyone in Minneapolis.

    Need some math help please.

So Sano struck out in the 1st inning today. That gives him 16 strikeouts in 32 at bats this spring. Is that still a 50% strikeout rate or has that changed with the geeks running baseball now? I’m guessing striking out is now a good thing?

Yeah he’s been brutal this Spring. Might take him til August to start making contact this year.

Sounds like it’s going to be Rooker in LF to start the season. Kiriloff didn’t help himself much this spring but I’m sure we’ll see him sooner than later. I like Rooker a lot and he hit pretty well before getting injured when he was called up in 2019 I believe. Maybe it was 2020. Those seasons mix together for me. Either way, I’m still worried about this team getting guys on base.

Very sad news. Condolences to the Bell family.

Minnesota Twins bench coach Mike Bell died Friday after battling with cancer, the team announced. He was 46.

Bell joined the Twins in December 2019 after spending 10 years in player development with the Diamondbacks. He took a leave of absence due to kidney cancer in February.

Bell also played as a third baseman, reaching the majors in 2000 with the Cincinnati Reds. His brother, David Bell, is the Reds’ manager, and his father, Buddy Bell, works in the Reds’ front office after spending nine years as an MLB manager.

Next stop opening day in Milwaukee. Offense has been terrible this spring. Pitching got knocked around again today.

The pitching has been pretty darn solid overall this spring. The hitting has been terrible. Will be counting on HR’s again this season. Problem is there won’t be anyone on base….

Baldelli is an embarrassment. After yesterday’s game and Berrios’ third time getting shelled this spring Baldelli was quoted “he’s at the top of his game right now. He is ready to go out and win a game right now.”

I’ve never seen a manager spew out more BS than Baldelli. At least when Ozzie did it is was funny.

Can someone explain why they would sign Randy Dobnak to a 5 year deal? Like the guy, he’s got a great story, and the money isn’t crazy but is he really destined for a long MLB career?

I was a little surprised as well. He’s given them a lot of good innings over the past couple of seasons and he’s been their best pitcher this spring outside of Maeda. I’m not saying that matters as he has shown he slows down as the season goes along but they may think he could be a solid long relief man and the lower amount of innings he would get in that role could expand his effectiveness throughout the season. Also gives them a lot of flexibility.

I’m getting more and more concerned about this team not scoring any runs. Another game with one hit today AND the full starting lineup was in. They are already a historically slow starting team offensively but this has been really bad this spring.

6 million per is cheap if they project him as a starter. I’m sure they are buying out some arbitration years also. Should free up some cash for signing Buxton or a shortstop next year.
