Depends on their approach as a team. If they continue this swing & miss, swing for the fences it will be a long time coming. Until they return to valuing average, speed, driving in runs, defense it won’t matter what they have for pitching.

I’m old and a baseball purist. This stuff they are playing now is hard for me to watch or get excited about. But, I’ll hope for the best.

I’m with you. There are no more “basics” to watch. Teach these kids to bunt and we would see a whole new dimension open up – screw the efforts at the “shift” and take the game back into your own hands. We constantly line up and hope for the homer. A 17-14 loss with 7 home runs ought to tell you that the fundamentals and strategy are just not there. I am tired of watching our starters leave after 5 innings when they are still doing all right. THey need the experience and the arm strength. IF they go South on you THEN pull them out out. Put the friggin stat book away and coach. It’s like watching Moneyball in action but when it does NOT work as planned. ( GREAT movie though)

You lookin for sympathy dutch? Check the dictionary somewhere between $hit and syphilis.
Can’t wait for the silver lining in September yay
At least football is back so I have something to watch coming up. I just can’t get into watching meaningless baseball and that was months ago. Pretty sure these highly compensated athletes would like to get onto next year. Some better be with other ball clubs!

Well eyeguy nobody is forcing you to watch or read this thread. You can move onto the Gophers and Vikings, neither of which by the way has won anything as recently as the Twins. I’ve pretty much determined you are a front runner and little about baseball makes you happy, why you hang on here and punish yourself I’ll never know.

I’ll make you a deal……since baseball is so bad you stay out of baseball threads and i’ll stay out of football threads.

Dutch, no one is making you watch the Twins neither and you seem to complain about how bad the Twins are daily then stop watching them too. No need to fight over the Twins lost season.

I would gladly stay out but this thread keeps getting bumped daily to the top so like clickbait, I go to see what kind of exciting news could possibly have occurred during this dumpster fire season. Usually complaining but sometimes a new development that may intrigue me. Punishment would be wasting 4 hours of my day watching them play. I can come here for 5 minutes and tell how things have gone this week! There just isn’t much to look forward to since the trade deadline is over.
Are any of these prospects going to see the big leagues this year?

My wife is friends with the owner of the Cubs, see texted to give him grief for sending Rizzo to the Yanks-Why the Yankees!? She said. Can’t we all just agree to hate the Yankees? That team has been worse to us than the Pack has been to the Vikes.

This thread is becoming more exciting than watching the Twins.

Jose Miranda leads the #MNTwins  organization in: BA (.345), SLG (.588), OPS (.996), Hits (110), HR (22), RBI (62), Runs (66), XBH (40), Total Bases (194). And he’s second in OBP (.408)

    Just saying…….let’s see him.

I haven’t watched full Twins game on TV in a year or two, and haven’t attended a game in like 5 years and most importantly to me haven’t given the Pohlad’s a dollar of mine directly in close to 10. It’s GREAT! I only follow thru second hand accounts here and SM, and like to remind everyone nothing will change as long as the Silver Spoon Pohlads have their Golden Goose. BTW did you see the new Ferrari Dealership Hennepin County Tax payers bought for the Pohlads? Must be rough… whistling chased

Big write up on the Athletic about Miranda Dutch. Time to jump on the wagon.

Highest OPS from a Twins AA or AAA prospect ever. He’s our only hope. jester

Silver lining is he might push your pal the Fat Kid out the door.

I caught the Twins game against the Sox last night, first game I watched in a long time.

They all look beaten, very sad to see. What a difference a year makes.

Yep. It’s pretty darn ugly right now. I think losing Cruz and Berrios, while being inevitable, really took the last bit of energy out of the team. Couple that with going with an opener and a guy who can’t get anyone out, it’s a tough one to watch.

Same here. Since we don’t get FSN anymore through Hulu I haven’t caught a game this year.

They needed the mercy rule last night. What a putrid looking team. Some of the fielding mishaps, especially Cave and Kepler getting mixed up in the middle of the game, are inexplicable.

I won’t watch another game this year….waste of time and energy to follow those guys.

The season is obviously lost but they have actually been kind of fun to watch lately. Im sure that will all change tonite when they play the stupid yankees. Polanco three walk offs in the last 4 games.

Of course it has to be the damn Yankees to remind us what type of team we really have…..

It was easy to see the Twins hot streak coming to an end heading into the Yankee series. It’s insane how badly the Yankees own the Twins in the last couple of decades. Twins are 47-114 against the Yankees in this millennium, not to mention the 2-16 playoff record.

have forgotten what baseball is all about….fundamentals, the belief in each other, the love of the daily grind….you don’t have baseball people leading this attitude and approach, you have a losing organization. Wrong leadership equals no chance to succeed.

Hitting .200 leaves no chance to succeed.

I see the Brewers are coming to town. Anyone interested in what professional starting pitching and a true closer looks like might want to take in a game this weekend.

FYI – I believe only one other player has pitched AND hit a home run in the same game besides Astudillo – his uniform has red in it…..
Also, Astudillo has the 5th best ERA of ALL the twins pitchers this season ( yeah I know it’s only a couple innings but….. seriously?!?!?!?!)
He looked pissed that he was pitching last night.
    I can’t help myself, I love baseball…. bawling

Brew crew coming to town. If only I lived closer…then again I’m probably not woke enough to attend a baseball game this year shock lol. I wish the twins the best but this is a pretty darn good version of the crew, they might even rival the ’82 crew when you could enjoy a game without politics being involved!

So we get another much heralded young pitcher in from St. Paul to face the big bad Brewers.

For those of you at the State Fair……you see Buxton around anywhere?

Awful lot of bad umpiring last night. Not sure if it was that much of a detriment.
