Depends on their approach as a team. If they continue this swing & miss, swing for the fences it will be a long time coming. Until they return to valuing average, speed, driving in runs, defense it won’t matter what they have for pitching.
I’m old and a baseball purist. This stuff they are playing now is hard for me to watch or get excited about. But, I’ll hope for the best.
I’m with you. There are no more “basics” to watch. Teach these kids to bunt and we would see a whole new dimension open up – screw the efforts at the “shift” and take the game back into your own hands. We constantly line up and hope for the homer. A 17-14 loss with 7 home runs ought to tell you that the fundamentals and strategy are just not there. I am tired of watching our starters leave after 5 innings when they are still doing all right. THey need the experience and the arm strength. IF they go South on you THEN pull them out out. Put the friggin stat book away and coach. It’s like watching Moneyball in action but when it does NOT work as planned. ( GREAT movie though)
