Wheres TBRO when I need him. I would like to see the number of scouts on the payroll pre Falvey vs what they have in the field now. I certainly hope they haven’t gone exclusively to Central Scouting.

What do you need scouts for when you have spreadsheets???? mrgreen

If you need a good laugh, take a look at that Yankee’s line-up without their Covid guys. jester

Welcome back Mitch Garver! Guess a shot to the nuts did him some good!

BTW…..Kyle Gibson has been shelled his last two outings……BY THE TIGERS. He’s the same guy.

By the scores of some games, MLB left the super balls from the homerun derby in play. coffee Went to a MLB game and a slow pitch softball game broke out. jester

Think Rocco takes some heat for leaving Berrios in the last inning?

No, everyone would’ve killed him if he took him out after all the early pulls he’s made this season. I sure didn’t want him to take him out. It is typical Berrios though. Guy looks like an ace but always has one blowup inning. Yesterday unfortunately was the final inning.

If you want Berrios to become more than what he is you treat him like deGrom, Buehler, Strasburg, Scherzer ect. You let him work out of trouble, learn how to pitch and navigate a line-up. Otherwise he is just a “guy” you give the ball to. I’m not saying he will become a stud because I don’t think he will. But to become really good you need to let him go. It was only a softball game (7 innings) anyway it’s not like he was asked to go 12 innings and 130 pitches.

The first game yesterday Rocco drove me nuts. Griffin Jax is cruising along and he pulls him after 4 innings and 60 some pitches. I would think you’d want to save arms in a double header but not Rocco. It’s like he just shifted his nine inning game plan for the seven inning game. He’s lucky Berrios showed up in game two or he might not have any arms for today’s game.

Jax left due to a blister on his pitching hand.

Also saw Donaldson yelling at Arraez for not paying attention on second base. If Luis was slow to take his lead because he was chatting with the guys on the other team he was definitely out of line. It’d be interesting to get Cruz’s take on what really happened since JD can trigger so easily too ~

I know Jax was having some finger issues but I never heard it confirmed that’s why they took him out.

Can they DH for Sano? Ober would have a better chance.

I think I saw the average MLB pitcher strikes out 39% of the time while Sano is at 43% so technically yes..

It’s gotten embarrassing. He is up there swinging for the fences on every pitch. Not that it’s any different than his normal approach but he’s literally swinging out of his ass on every pitch.

If you want to forget about the Twins and read about some good baseball (and you have a sub to The Athletic) there’s a really good story on Manny Ramirez right now. I’d cut and paste it but it makes the Gleeman stories look short.

    165 RBI’s in 99. Unreal.

High-fiving the fan over the outfield wall in the middle of completing a double play is the best Manny-being-Manny moment in history…

Pretty sure Manny is still playing somewhere. I hope it’s for the love of the game and not because he blew through his money.

Manny being Manny was must see.

Might have been a different season if………..

    A) They didn’t sign Colome.

    2) They didn’t rely on Shoemaker.

    3) Polonco hit like this in April & May.

    4) The fat kid turned his ankle.

The article actually said he has been playing, most recently in China and had an agreement in place for this season in Australia but it didn’t happen.

Sounds like Nelson Cruz is going to Tampa Bay. Rumors are it’s a four player trade but no more details are out yet.

    *Update*

Twins receive right handed pitchers Joe Ryan and Drew Strotman.

Joe Ryan SP – 4-3 with a 3.63 ERA and 11.8 K/9 at AAA Durham.

“Ryan has a starter’s delivery and a three-quarters arm slot that creates deception. Combine that with his above-average command and the life on his fastball, and you can understand why hitters have struggled to do much damage against him. It’s simply impossible to argue with his 2019 results, including a 1.96 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 183/27 K/BB ratio.”

Drew Strotman SP – 7-2 with a 3.39 ERA and 9.6 K/9 at AAA Durham

“Strotman has a lean pitcher’s frame at 6-foot-3, 175 pounds and a fast arm that produces a low 90s fastball that has touched 96. His slider has reached 87 and earned plus grades at its best. Strotman peaked in mid-May with a 14-strikeout, no-walk win against Santa Clara, lasting eight innings.”

Looks like two solid acquisitions for Cruz that may be able to contribute soon.
