Calvin was the last of the old time owners whose income was 100% from the baseball team.

For those complaining the Twins don’t spend money. There are 30 teams in MLB and the Twins rank 16th in spending in 2021. Right in the middle. It’s not what you spend that counts, it’s where you spend it.

My family drank Elf pop when I was growing up. All that my parents could afford. We could have one can on Friday night with popcorn when we could stay up late watching tv.

Oh, by the way, Donaldson just left the game with ……. wait for it……. a calf injury. shock doah

Is he hurt or did he make a funny face and Rocco took him out for precautionary reasons?

Dick is trying sooo hard to be the Twins homer, Kaat is trying so hard not to laugh out loud at the Double AA team the Royals are playing.

Dick was really trying to make Jax sound like he was coming into his own after a shaky first inning… Oh well –

Yes, according to Dick if we would only get a couple of breaks we would be leading the division by 12 games.

Rocco could always run Kitty out there, but then he would have to explain how a 80 year old who knows how to pitch could get guys out.

I’d give it 50-50 that Kaat could whiff Sano…

Maeda looking like last years version today. It’s the Royals sure, but he’s finally locating all his pitches. 10 k’s through 6 innings of shutout ball. And hit 94mph in the sixth. But I’m sure Rocco will yank him so the bullpen can blow it. Even Kaat was saying leave him in. “He’s just getting loose” he said. Love it.

Heading to the Saints game to check out the future! Ha. And the fireworks. They’ve always had great Fourth of July shows. Bring the girls so hopefully the little one will make it.

Man I feel like I’m at a twins game! Saints starter gave up 2 hits no runs in 5 innings and Saints were winning 3-0. Baldellis grasp must run deep because they took the starter out and brought in the bullpen. 2 relievers proceeded to give up 7 runs in the 6th inning! rotflol

    Beautiful night though!

glad you finally watched something other than the vomit at target field. I may have to take my daughter there this summer, looks like a fun time.

Donaldsons newest injury will keep the Mets from dealing for him. Cruz as good as gone probably to Oakland. I’d like to see the two rookie outfielders stay. And Gordon at his natural position. The rest need to go and start from scratch and including Buxton. He may be the only one worth something in trade. Sano needs to be released period. Roco needs to be gone after break. His handling of the piching staff is worse than Gardenhire. Pitching, pitching, pitching and players without such injury history. List goes on and on. i feel sorry for the broadcasters that have to put a spin on this everyday, rant over..

To be honest I don’t see them trading Sano or Buxton. People still remember Ortiz. And lets be honest, there aren’t a lot of other players here teams would be beating the doors down to get. Maybe Berrios, Rogers, Duffy. Cruz is automatic, his contract is up.

Sano is no Ortiz. Needs to be released and not take up space. nobody will want him either, agreed not much here that will even attract a trade.

Sano is exactly Otiz……minus the steroids.

They actually came back just like the Twins and needed a single in the ninth to tie the game. It was amazing how similar of a game path it was.

I do love that field. It’s small, wide open, and in St Paul, which is miles better than Minneapolis. And the St Paul Police presence is VERY evident all around the stadium before, during, and after. It was a fun night and the baseball is much more entertaining than the independent league Saints. Had 3 HR and one robbed by a pretty great play.

Even got to run the bases after the game with my 3 year old. She had a blast.

I think the Twins have hung onto Sano so long exactly because they got rid of Ortiz too soon. Problem is Sano is not the player Ortiz was in his first 6 seasons with the Twins.

Ortiz had a few less at bats in his first 6 years but a better batting average (.280 vs .230 for Sano) but more importantly, half the strikeout rate that Sano has (Ortiz was 21% then vs. a staggering 43% for Sano). Sano will average 150-200 strikeouts a year which doesn’t indicate a guy that is on the verge of figuring it out and turning into an elite hitter like Ortiz became.

Sano continues to be overmatched at the plate and there is too much evidence to indicate he will never figure it out.

Time to release him if you can’t include him in a package to trade one of the other guys.

My concern is with Cruz leaving they will turn the full-time DH spot over to Sano and we will have to endure watching him flail and fail for another year.

Releasing and eating the salary isn’t a Twins thing.

Keep the rookies fire sale the rest. We have to admit we do not have the talent we think we do. I do agree in too much strength training and not enough limberness training. The injuries seem to be league wide but not to the Twins extent.

Realistically the Twins don’t release Sano until at least this time next year due to the money owed on his contract. But if any Low A power arm prospect is offered for him and his $10m I wouldn’t flinch…

No wonder Josh has calf issues.

We now have proof that the Twins training room consists of pillows, feathers, and old man walkers for anyone with a mere hangnail.

Nelson Cruz has been held out of the lineup the last few times due to “neck stiffness caused by violent coughing from a cold”…….

Now, Cruz is the last person I’d rag on with this team but my god. Rocco let’s these guys get away with murder.

If you somehow could throw a breaking ball with a beach ball to the Fat Kid he couldn’t hit it.

Man, Nick Gordon is showing some promise for the first time in a long time. Pretty surprising. I was thinking they had figured him out as he was starting to struggle, but he roped that curve to break the game open a little. Let’s hope Ober can get his first win after Rocco stole his first chance at it.

Nick Gordon takes the heat off of Sano’s dismal RISP at bat in the 6th inning with a triple. As good as Gordon looked, man you just don’t want to see the big guy in there with ducks on the pond..

The way Kepler played that ball in the corner makes me wonder if he has a bet on the game. smirk

That happens, especially when the ball gets stuck underneath the padding. As an outfielder I hated when walls had those gaps in ballfields I played in throughout college. Never knew when it was going to stick under there.

I’ve got such a smile on my face over the last couple games that Kaat has been color man on. I can just feel all the analytic heads cringing with all the old school baseball strategy talk. applause
