Jeffers looked lost in has last few at bats last night. I kinda like Arreaz but the jumping around at the plate is starting to bug me. I was ok with it when he was hitting in the upper 300’s a few year back but not now.

Didn’t look lost on that home run……

Unreal comeback in the 8th, and blown by the pen in the ninth……just keeps killing this team.

Broken hand for Buxton. Out 1-2 months. I feel sorry for the kid on this one. Nothing he could do.

If only they traded him during that brief 2 day window! This guy is an absolute bust and they should have got rid of him at the highest point before he stubs his toe getting off the toilet. He has played over 100 games one time in his career. ONE TIME. Centerfielders aren’t going to win you pennants and especially this dime a dozen china doll. I wouldn’t give him away for Matt Capps but after the 2 clowns running the show get shown the door, the new regime can ship him for the best prospect arms available. Hey I’m sure there are other teams that need silver linings.

I wouldn’t trade him. He didn’t have a chance with this injury. Would’ve happened to anyone in the lineup the same way. He’s the best player on the team and I want to see him in a Twins uniform. He probably would’ve had a shot at the MVP this year had he been healthy.

I still want to see him get another shot. Too good to give up on. To be mad at him for this one is ridiculous.

Yep. Tib/Fib fracture. Not good. Was a little odd at how long they took to call EMS onto the field. Let the poor guy writhe around in pain in front of the crowd a lot longer than they should have. Don’t see that one too often in baseball.

At least the bats are starting to wake up, and even old man Happ came to play.

As strange as it sounds, they can make up a lot of ground if they get red hot right now. All division foe’s until the all star game.

Don’t have much faith but the next three against the chisox will tell us if we need to care or not.

Mahto……is Gleeman employed by the Twins or the Athletic?

Is anybody ever going to take Falvey to task for this train wreck?

    Athletic 100%

He is in love with Baldelli because he’s an analytics guy and he can do no wrong.

A couple interesting articles floating out there on the Twins conundrum – wining the last 7 of 9 and hope to make it to relevance vs. sellers at the trade deadline.

My take FWIW is to build towards the future and pitching at all costs. Sign Berrios and Rogers to long term deals (yes, they are very good but not elite) because they are maybe as good as the Twins can get since elite FA pitchers don’t want to come here. Then be sellers before the deadline and everyone else is potentially trade bait for more pitching. Personally I’d keep Kiriloff and Larnach and some of the top minor league pitching prospects like Duran and Balazovic. Probably Royce Lewis too (high ceiling, team control, etc).

Anyone else you can package to get either an established <30 year old pitcher, or more realistically towards high-potential, minor league power pitching prospects is the way you try to double down and rebuild this team.

The experiment to build a winner based upon power should be evident now that it doesn’t work without elite pitching. Start by adding great arms and add the defense next, then power…

Don’t let the record over the past 10 days cloud judgment on what really needs to be done next…

Haha, came across an old scouting report. Maybe this old guy could help the Twins. Although I still open up my lower half a bit too much..! waytogo

    Chris Fryer Scouting report

    COMMENTS

5-10, 180-pound athletic body frame. On the mound there is not much effort used to his delivery. He incorporates a good hip load, along with a higher leg kick to utilize good use from his lower half. Has quickness to his arm speed coming through a ¾ slot. He had the tendency to open up a little too soon with his lower half during this outing, compared to just a couple months ago when everything was in sync and in good rhythm. Fryer offers a five-pitch mix. His fastball ranged from 83-86 mph and also featured a two-seam fastball from 85-86 mph that has good arm-side run. His curveball has sharp break with 11/5 tilt at 72 mph. His slider has a good shape to it and has tighter break than his curveball between 76-77 mph. Changeup looked better this time around throwing it with fastball arm speed and has good arm-side run and sink at 78 mph.

That guy would be worth $10 million a year and drop Meada into the #2 slot. grin

Lol, at his age and rotator cuff condition he can’t even make batboy status for the Hamel Hawks!

Frydog did you play with Hamel? I played for the Blaine townball team from 06-15 and played Hamel numerous times.

BTW I don’t think anyone will be asking about Duran. He’s on the shelf and probably needs Tommy John.

No, but we just moved right next to their field and have seen a few of their games. Have yet to stop into Inn Kahoots but that’s next toast

Played against Hamel in the late 70s to mid 80s. Their coach for some of that time was ex Yankee Johnny Blanchard. Hamel always had a line on the Gopher players that stayed in the cities for the summer.

When I played for Blaine we played them about 7 or 8 times a summer. They had a guy that must’ve been 55 playing and every year he’d play all the positions in one game. He was still a solid player too. Nothing rivals Townball.

Every year trying to get to the state tournament we’d play a guy from Cold Spring who threw 95 with a nasty slider. He was a few years older than me and every year after the tournament he’d have scouts that had watched him offering him minor league contracts. He’d turn them down every year, contempt with his better paying career in Cold Spring.

I have a friend who is originally from Cold Spring and pitched for St. Thomas back in the day, Miesville later on. Left handed and turned 60 this year… still throws 80 mph.. some guys don’t age.

I’m sure that guy’s name is Tim Fleming. I played against him. He played second mostly back then. The years I played Town Ball were some of the most fun in my life!!

I think you’re right! I vaguely remember it! I think I played for Blanchards son Paul at SMSU for my freshman year of college.

That’s crazy. Our manager was a reliever for a bit with the Padres and still pitched into his 40s for us. His arm was shot but he still had major league junk. 80 at 60 is impressive though.

Big game for the Twins tonight. We’ll see if they are actually trying to get back into this thing.

Well, tonight has been a pretty accurate representation of the season….I don’t see them fighting their way back into it.

    Wheres it at now?
