Q- Do you play Polanco’s bat or sit his defense?

Sit Polanco. He can be the new Nick Punto. Put Arreaz back at 2B where he belongs.

You can have your HR’s I’ll take guys that can ACTUALLY HIT.

I’d rather watch Tony Gwynn hit .380 all season vs a guy hitting 40 HR’s with 200 K’s.

Right now I’d be playing Polanco. He’s been their hottest bat over the last 10 days or so. AND you have to play him anyway because of all the BS injuries we have.

They aren’t losing because of errors anymore, they are losing because they only score 3 runs a game.

To all the baseball fans, I hate to say it but it’s done. I didn’t think it would happen this early but looking at the box, its done. I don’t think the rebuild will take too long but time to sell!
    Buston….see ya!
    Donaldson…..Gone!
    Cruz…..thanks for the good times.
Most of all see ya Rocco!

I think we can put to bed all the Fox
sports and Bally sports threads too. Get out and fish and save your coin on more important things.

The big question is, are the owners making money?? That is what they care about. Many owners buy a team to have fun and win at all costs, but here I really believe if they had a choice to win & lose money, or lose and make money, they would choose lose.

They’re even getting hard to listen to

    Bremer is reaching that point.

I’m a die hard baseball fan.
    Have stopped watching.
Need new owners who can respect the serious fan base that exists and actually put a product on the field they are not embarrassed to say they own.
Like your new stadium? – give a little back then!!!!
How much money do you really need to make?!
    F’in ridiculous!!

I’m enjoying the losing right now. Rocco needs to go, and frankly Falvey and Levine can go with him. Josh Donaldson was not going to win us a world series. We needed pitching. Everyone knew it. What did we get last season? Has been’s and so-so’s. Over use of Analytics has been ruining out for me.
I’m glad I didn’t chase a TV deal so I can watch this mess.

Well they have spent more money than everyone else in the division except The Sox which they have basically spent the same amount. Less than a million dollar difference. More money than the brewers A’s and Rays.
So payroll can’t be the only reason. If you are waiting for new ownership you may be waiting a while. If I had to guess even if they got a new owner they would still not spend the money like the big market teams do.
But I agree they are unwatchable.

I’m not sure it’s ever been the amount of money they spend, it’s more who they spend it on.

Q- who are the best hitters (average & walks) on the Twins?
Q2- who bats lead off for the Twins?

Spending hasn’t been the issue – it is players that haven’t lived up to the hype. It is looking more and more like our players are busts and 2019 was a fluke year.

There’s always next year, but until then…

“This team has so much potential”
“We’re a year or two away”
“We just need a move or two at the deadline”
    “Once Buxton is healthy_____”
“Sano is just a slow starter”

    Bremer is reaching that point.

Bremer has always been hard to listen to. I don’t care about what you know about some podunk town in MN or what experience you had in little league that you are trying to compare to a MLB game. He’s awful. Can’t even tell what pitches are being thrown anymore.

Morneau is the only decent guy they have anymore. Even Smalley is brutal. Guy can’t even get through a sentence.

    And yes……it is over.

I wouldn’t say 2019 was a fluke it was more the stars aligning and 3/4 of the roster having career years that they will probably never replicate again. Even the bullpen. Without Buxton in the lineup, having Sano strike out every at bat, Kepler and Polanco hitting .200, and absolutely no bullpen, they don’t have much shot.

Bremer must miss Bert? I usually watch the away feed just to hear what other announcers say about the team. Pretty good stuff! I might check in a few more times this year if this $hitshow continues!

If that is the case then no need to blame the owners which was my point. No I’m not a pocket protector. They don’t make the decision who to spend the money on. Just think the Minnesota fan base is sooo hypocritical. Twins don’t spend enough. Why would we spend that much on Joe Mauer or Cousins or Parise or any other player x.

Owners shell out the money GM’s spend that budget. Managers coaches, coach what they are given.
Not referring to you so much Dutch more so of the comment/s I stopped watching because the owners don’t spend enough.

Smalley with a gem at the end of the game. “No reason to be ashamed after seeing the stuff they saw today from”…..wait for it………”Lance Lynn.”

Give me a break. At least Morris had the balls to call the kettle black.

Another game with no offense. Wonder if the analytics are telling Jocco to give up yet. Common should be starting the “Run for 100” any time now on Kfan…..

x100000. I always assumed Bremer had some dirt on the Pohlads because he is just brutal. Even after 8,765 games announcing he still announces the runners are going on a 3-2 count 2 outs, it’s my biggest pet peeve and my Dad and I have a running joke that maybe this will be the time he doesn’t say it…and the only time I watch is with my Dad at the cabin.

Totally agree. That’s the issue w/ analytics imo, when they are right, it’s see we are using advanced analytics, we’re smart! When they are terribly, horribly wrong, well the analytics said so, this time was just a fluke!

Glad I haven’t wasted my time (other than this thread, and some quality time w/ my dad) or money on this terrible franchise in years. FIRE THE POHLADS! They are barely better than Taylor and the Timberwolves imo.

Pohlads do it strictly for business and since Carl passed, they don’t care about wins and losses, they care about profit. I was fooled and thought this was actually a solid roster…..RUN for 1 HUN, Run for 1 HUN!
Taylor cared about winning but he was so bad about finding competent execs to run the team. Maybe him selling will end the curse? On paper when all healthy, this is a borderline playoff team. No I am not drunk.

I’ve been wondering how the Target Field attendance will go the rest of the year now that it’s about to open up to full capacity. I have a feeling there is still so much pent up demand to go to a baseball game that people will still go and the place will be packed. Whether they are actually watching the game or instead trying to get a tan, looking at the birds in the sky, playing on their phones, is another story.

Twins can only hope to pack the joint. They would be happy no matter if they were watching the birds.

Gleeman just dropped a Athletic story about the Twinks. Not a pretty picture.

An owner of a business that wants to turn a profit. Shocking.
Again they have the highest payroll in the division behind the the white Sox by less than million bucks which is virtually a half an arm on your last bullpen spot.
Yes it’s all the owners fault for not spending like the Yankees in a market that is a fraction of the size.
Maybe they should have spent 341 million on Lindor to play short so everyone could complain about how over rated he is compared to his contract. Oh wait they did that with Mauer.

Very easy to complain about how other people spend their money. The beauty of baseball it costs you nothing more than time to be a fan or a hater for that matter. grin

I think the biggest mistake they have made is believing they could keep using bottom barrel relievers that they thought they could train up to fill out their bullpen. Colome WAS a good signing. No one knew he would be this bad. BUT if they would’ve signed a few middle of the road bullpen arms as well they’d be in a little better spot.

And then there’s the hitting. None of these guys were contact hitters as prospects other than Arraez and with the new regime only preaching launch angle the strikeouts have ballooned and hitting with RISP has plummeted. A match made in heaven.

I can’t argue about the hitters. Thats pretty much spot on. I will argue Colome. Chicago knew he wasn’t good enough to help catch the Twins while pitching for them. They needed him on the Twinks roster…..if only they could find somebody who thought they were the smartest guys in the room. Ummmm

When they signed Colome I thought they would just use him as another arm in the pen. I had no idea they thought he could actually pitch with the slop he throws up there.

I want Arreaz leading off every single game the rest of the year. If I have to watch this I want to watch a guy with a plan who looks like he actually has fun.

X100 – guys that are having fun. Too many problems to solve at once. Bullpen, hitting even fielding has been sub par lately

Was it bizarro world yesterday? Scoreless day for the bullpen? Colome 3 scoreless innings in a row? SANO GAME WINNING HR TO RIGHT FIELD?????

I couldn’t believe it. Sadly Sano got lucky on that swing because the pitch beat him and he was just quick enough to catch it.

I’ll stand behind the Colome signing even as bad as he’s been. You don’t get numbers like he had by being bad. And those are numbers over a 3 year span. Yeah he doesn’t strike guys out. Hasn’t hurt him before. While I don’t see him getting back to those numbers this year, he’s starting to trend in the right direction and I bet he has a sub 4 era by the end of the season.
