Or hope the rest of the outfield outside of Buxton continue to hit like crap also.

I don’t want to see Kiriloff back in the outfield, but I fear you might be right. They won’t give up on the fat kid yet I suppose.

i remember they gave up on a fat kid before and he is on the next ballot to the HOF. i would expect the big fella play 3rd too as much as Rocco likes to switch positions around. how many games is Donaldson gonna miss this year?

Ortiz got passed by a lot of teams before Boston took the chance. Was it a mistake letting him go? Yes I suppose, but if you don’t fit into the team what are they suppose to do? Add in the steroids, and well who knows.

If Donaldson stays healthy along with Buxton they have pretty dynamic 2-3-4 hitters. Sano still has to prove himself. Is he worth hanging onto if he doesn’t prove he can swing and hit something? Do you want a .220 average with 25 hrs and 70 rbi to hold back a kid who possibly can hit .300+ with 25 homeruns and can actually hit the ball on occasion? I dunno. At some point the swing and miss has to get old for the rest of the players. He is leaving a lot of guys on base.

I don’t have the answers, just a opinion like everybody else.

Heard a report that Sano has been basically healthy and ready to play but they haven’t activated him because of Kiriloff. I’m done with Sano. Aside from one month in 2019 I’ve never been that impressed with him.

As for Ortiz it was a HUGE mistake. It was basically the same scenario as Buxton (although he was far less of a big name prospect). When he played he mashed, but he was always hurt. They certainly didn’t give him as much rope as Buxton and Sano have gotten. Boston could see that if they could keep him healthy he would be a good player.

Facing our old pal Kyle Gibson tonight. Started off the season terribly but has pitched very well the last few starts. Hope we rock him.

They kept telling Ortiz to hit to the opposite field…

tells you alot about the organizational philosophy back then…alot of it coming from Terry Ryan…

    hit to the opposite field
    pitch to contact
160lb middle infielders who couldn’t hit their weight in average

I get that people love to rag on that all the time. Problem is that’s how you become a good hitter. Look back and tell me how many HR’s Ortiz hit over the green monster (or any park) opposite field? He could hit it out anywhere and it’s why he turned out to hit for average AS WELL as power. Look at all the players today. 3/4’s of them can hit 20 HRs but I bet 25% can’t hit over .250. My point is good hitters go the opposite way and hit the ball where it is pitched. Kiriloff is a perfect current example. And Sano is a perfect example to the contrary.

I’m not trying to defend TR or the pitch to contact BS (Anderson might be the one of the worst pitching coaches we’ve had) but I don’t fault them for trying to teach players to hit the other way.

I have no problem with Ryan. I think he was hamstrung in a way McPhail wasn’t. The people in Philly hate McPhail & Ryan, but here they brought us 2 World Championships.

I’m as tired of the Ortiz stuff as I am the Mauer stuff. The club did what they had to do with both players.

Another player out of the lineup because of Baldelli Babying.

Arraez put on concussion protocol after his horrible headfirst slide into home yesterday. He didn’t even hit his head unless you count when he ate some dirt because he’s so slow he can’t actually slide. What a joke. He played three more innings for heaven’s sake.

Did you see the play? Normally I can agree that Baldelli babies players (or maybe it’s the Twins org in general, bi-lateral leg weakness) but I’m not going to question the health of Arraez after seeing that play. I could see cause for multiple injuries from that play, mainly due to the high, off line throw that caused the catch to get into his way at the last split second.

I would outlaw headfirst sliding if I owned a team. Nothing good comes of going headfirst.

Keeping Arreaz out opens a spot for Baldelli also. Makes writing the line-up easier.

Another question…..we send Jeffers down so Garver can get more reps and playing time. Now, why are we playing the kid so often? Sit him down and play Garver 5 in a row, give him 1 day off and go 5 more.

Because that’s far too much work for a catcher……You can’t play them back to back games…..no way.

They did it for years. 120 games isn’t back to back. There are plenty of days off.

I know Dutch. I agree with you. Just playing Baldelli’s lame reasoning.

If he is worried about Garver getting to much work he could pull him when he pulls the starters. smirk

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a club give up as many 9th inning runs as the Twins have this year. Is it me?? Seems like a disaster every other time out and blown games left and right!

the pen is atrocious. Rodgers is a specialist, Colome is a dumpster fire, Duffey is not himself and they basically rely on Alcala and Robles which are loose cannons at any given time. the Wadell fellow is on his way back to A ball. wes johnson has his hands full but i think they will eventually right the ship. frustrating but early still.

I’m pretty sure Shaun Greene & Tyler Clipperd are still unsigned. Neither can be worse then what they are trotting out there now.

Actually 0-10 in non nine inning games. They must only have analytics that cover 9 inning games.

Was Kiriloff hurt or why didnt they pinch hit him as the tying run in the 10th. Cruz looked lost in his at bat in the 9th. Should have just kept watching cartoons with the kids instead of turning that crap show on in the 8th inning. Night before switched to wild game with twins up 6-1 in 8th glad i didnt watch the end of that poop show either.

Ya he hurt his wrist. Araez is concussed too. Sounds like some here want to give the first base job to Kiriloff after one game but that’s not how baseball works.

In 3 games Kiriloff has done more than Sano could do since the season started. Put me in the Kiriloff camp.

what a brutal game to watch! Sano def did not lose the game and took professional at bats which is good to see. i think he has like 14 walks this year so he is not the problem and he will get better. i am not defending his play because he has been pretty bad, but with all the injuries day in day out, they need all hands on deck to fill positions when guys go out. Kiriloff on the 10 day and Araez day to day
not sure what the problem is other than the obvious that you ain’t winning games by scoring 1 run. i like our bullpen but it’s been awful. would like to see another lefty in there. Colome looked confident in 2 innings and Alcala was hitting 100 so there is some positives to take away.
if they dont sweep the tigers…..i’m officially concerned
