Berrios actually looking more like himself tonight. Still not locating but he’s missing on the corners instead of right down the middle and his slider has some bite on it again. Good to see.
August 21, 2020 at 6:11 am #1966940I don’t want to start a different thread and I presume we have a lot of baseball fans. I stumbled across this on YouTube.
Seriously? Unwritten rule? These guys are paid entertainers, he did what he is paid to do. Maybe they should change the unwritten rule to an actual rule then to protect their fragile psyche. Up by X in inning 8, then call the game.
August 21, 2020 at 6:28 am #1966943Um ya, really don’t care what he thinks or says. Win the game 1-0 or 55-0 doesn’t matter. If you are concerned the score is getting ran up against you get some decent pitching. Hitters are paid to hit.
I get so tired of the whining.

Unwritten rules are unwritten because they’re all stupid…
Just like sac bunting
August 21, 2020 at 12:11 pm #1967080pitching has been the bright spot. they need to wake those bats up. scoring 4 runs a game ain’t going to cut it. still lots of games left and a wide open season so anything is possible. Id like to see them add a reliable lefty in the pen before the deadline. I like the rotation and once Pineda gets back, they should have a solid group and go with the hottest pitchers in the playoffs.
Jose
Maeda

the last 2 spots toss up to who looks the best
Dobnak
Pineda
HillAugust 21, 2020 at 12:13 pm #1967082If you have pitching, 4 runs a game wins you a world series. They don’t have nearly enough pitching.
August 23, 2020 at 1:58 pm #1967450good thing that .172 hitter is batting high in the order eh? runs like a gazzelle too! bats finally woke up

HillOdo has 2.5 starts this year. I’m not counting on him being the real “Odo” this season. Dobnak is doing well but it most likely has a lot to do with facing the AL and NL Central all season long. Yanks will destroy him. Maeda has definitely been a bright spot. Only having two starting pitchers on your team is a bit of an issue…..
The bullpen looked bulletproof the first month of the season. Now it’s hardly that. Taylor Rodgers pitching 3 times (sarcastic estimate) the first month of the season has really cost them. He now can’t locate any pitch anywhere other than down the pipe. Not to mention the rest of the bullpen starting to look shaky as well. Also, you have to consider that every week one of these arms will inevitably go on the 10 day DL.
August 24, 2020 at 3:54 pm #1967747Twins have played nobody. Thankfully they have Detroit left.
Pitching is what it always seems to be. Bullpen will be trashed because of it.
Oh well, at least Mr. Sano doesn’t look like a rusty gate in every at bat anymore. But then again it was Kansas City.

C’mon Dutchy you know Sano is slowing working his way onto your good side He has been mashing and I think a couple of his bombs are currently in orbit.

He’s been coming around finally
August 25, 2020 at 11:57 am #1967982Big Mig has been been responsible for 3 of the wins recently as the offense has been spotty. I haven’t looked but this team must be leading MLB with one run wins. This is not sustainable and a troubling trend.
It’s no secret this team needs an ace but those don’t grow on trees and you likely won’t see any traded this year so you got what you got. Keep plugging along and get healthy enough for the second half.August 25, 2020 at 1:50 pm #1968033<div class=”d4p-bbt-quote-title”>Dutchboy wrote:</div>

150+ games.
30+ homeruns
100 rbi
.270 average
15% strikeout rateAll in 1 season.
When he does that then he gets a birthday invitation.
August 25, 2020 at 2:18 pm #196804850+ games.
30+ homeruns
100 rbi
.270 averageIs that Sano or Harmon Killebrew? Harmon’s career line was .256 38 HR and 105 RBI……….
August 25, 2020 at 3:52 pm #1968085Potential is the word you are looking for. Much like the Vikings Treadwell when drafted. He can go either way, it’s up to him.
August 25, 2020 at 4:44 pm #1968110I’m going to say 15% strike out rate is out of the question for about 75% of the players in the league these days.

He has never (since 2015) struck out less then 30% of the time. One season was 38% and this year is 43% so far.
If you use 30 strikeouts per 100 at bats thats between 120 (4oo ab) & 150 (500 ab.) Thats a bunch & thats at the 30% mark. He also is a career .240 ish hitter. So, like a softball slugger he is mostly a all or nothing guy.
For his currant $10 million per year I can live with. Over that and he better learn how to hit.

I get it, I’m just saying the way the game is played currently striking out 20-30% of the time has become accepted.
August 25, 2020 at 7:25 pm #1968147Protesting on freeways has become accepted also…..does it make it right?
August 26, 2020 at 9:22 pm #1968518I like Romo but his antics are getting a little much lately. He’s not good enough to be running his mouth continuously.

He’s got that little man syndrome and it’s as annoying as Rosy’s showboating in left. Rocco is so predictable and that bugs the crep out of me lately. Last night in yet another close game Duffy throws 9 pitches in a flawless 7th and he puts Romo in to pitch the 8th and gets shelled. Pretty sure Duffy could have went 2 more innings and his arm would not fall off.
August 27, 2020 at 9:40 am #1968600It’s life for the Twins. When you have no aces the pen gets over worked, period. Their flaws will always rise to the top.
I was impressed with “Over the Hills” outing, pretty good for being on the IL. Berios was predictable.
