Not much about rich hill is “just” an innings eater. Hasn’t thrown more than 136 innings in a season since 2007. He had an extremely successful year last year, in only 13 starts, throwing his 4-5 innings each start.

Rich Hill is one of the better starting pitchers in baseball when healthy. If he stays healthy for this 60 game stretch I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him beat out Berrios as our top starter. That is one signing that I think will be looked back on as incredibly underrated.

Honestly I think I’d rather see Dobnak take the 5th spot in the rotation over Bailey. He’s got good stuff but has never been able to figure it out.

The only thing that stood out for me tonight was Jorge Alcala. That kid throws GAS and has a filthy breaking ball. Even located well tonight.

    Yes, yes, and yes again.

Gd mahto its baseball season, I’m not supposed to be agreeing with you toast

Twins just announced that Odo will begin the season on the IL. Going to see Berrios-Hill-Maeda in Chi this weekend. Twins have a day off Monday so I’d guess we will see either Bailey or Dobnak go Tuesday then back to Berrios Wednesday. Like mahto, I’ll be pulling for Dobnak and skipping Baileys turn in the rotation.

I’m very pleased with the TV production of Twins games so far and I take my hat off to everyone’s efforts in what is obviously a very unique, unprecedented situation. TV broadcast announcers aren’t even in the stadium the game is being played and I can’t tell a difference. On paper hearing that crowd noise would be piped in sounded awful but I think it really adds to the viewing experience and they’ve got a good balance of it. Cardboard cutouts for fans sounded REALLY dumb but even that is just more background stuff that probably makes it look more normal than completely empty seats. I was looking forward to football and the NHL playoff tourney much more but baseball has set a pretty high bar in my opinion as I think they’ve done a great job.

seems pretty normal to me watching games. the crack of the bat is noticably louder and you can hear the talk in the background pretty good which is neat. the cardboard cutouts in Chicago are brilliant really. fans can buy cutouts and they will set them out for you. heard some guy bought 80 cutouts of himself!
AJ Pierzinski was sitting behind home plate the whole series rotflol

White Sux put up some pretty impressive pitching. Twins will be coming home for a sold out (don’t try and buy a ticket) home opener against St. Louis.

The way the ball is jumping won’t be long until they start debating a juiced ball again.

Apparently you also have to score 10+ runs to win this year. Holy Nelson Cruz. The guy is incredible. So glad to be watching baseball…..however we might be screwed because of the Marlins.

Doubt he’d test positive….He’s been doing this for the last ten years.

If one of the cardboard fans gets hit with a foul ball will the “put up a net” debate start up?

Neither did Bonds, BigMac, Sosa the list goes on. Not that I care but Cruz was busted way back when. These older guys have figured out how not to get caught is all.

Buxton will be making his first start tonight, let’s hope it’s one of 50+.

They should take the nets down, seeing some cardboard cut outs destroyed by foul balls would add a lot! Plus the teams could add revenue by selling the replacement cardboard pics rotflol

Now it’s reported that a majority of Nationals players have voted against traveling to Miami for the weekend series against the Marlins.

Looks like this season is just about wrapped up. It’s been a fun week. roll

If it ends today Cruz would win MVP award. Think that would have an asterisk behind it?

Sports center had a bunch of funny clips of some of the cutouts getting destroyed by HRs. Good stuff.

As for the season it’s fine. Sounds like it was contained to the marlins. No one from the opposing team has tested positive. What they will do with the Marlins we’ll find out.

Also, I was wrong about Hill starting tonight. He’s starting tomorrow. HR Bailey starts tonight so the carboard fans might want to take cover!

I’ve been pretty much living outdoors everyday and haven’t even watched any ball yet, have it on the radio now and then. So is the no touching the base with hands having much impact? Say with runner’s at first?
    I’ll hang up and listen.

Haven’t even noticed it. Is that even a rule? I seen plenty of headfirst sliding……They all pretty much wear batting gloves when running now so what’s the problem?

I just know when they listed the new rules one was no touching the base with your hands. Maybe they squashed that idea.

    Must have.

Donaldson and Polanco go deep tonight, Bailey looked very good on the mound. Buxton and Sano didn’t look too lost. Great start for the Twins.

First game I’ve watched, very odd without the fans.
Strange to see Buxton miss that homerun catch but at least he didn’t run full speed into the wall!

As odd as the season’s going to be I think the condensed schedule should make it pretty fun.

Rich Hill tonight against the Cards along with the B team lineup. Hoping he’s the Rich Hill he is when he’s healthy. Should be fun to watch.

Good first outing for Hill. Bullpen dominated. Who the hell is Arron Whitefield?

A really fast Australian kid who is pretty much on the team to be the baserunner in extra innings. Hit like .152 in single A last year or maybe AA.

Really happy to see Hill start off this way and yes the bullpen is dominating people right now. If the Duffeys, Mays, and Stasheks keep trending upwards this bullpen could be really strong.
