If any outfielder needs to be moved it is Suxton. Rosy really irks me with all his showboating but he is a lefty that breaks up the righties in the middle of the order and the return will not be enough to get what? another #3 starter? I just hope Buston starts out strong and the team actually strikes while the iron is hot.
I hate Suxton like Dutchy hates the fat kid but at least the big boy has shown proffesional at bats. Buston is nothing more than a closer in the outfield in the last 3 innings of a close game….dime a dozen

For the record I don’t hate Sano. He has immense talent and the ability to hit the ball a long way. I question his dedication and willingness to do what needs to be done to be a great player. Maybe that will come this year?

Buxton we will find out about this year. He either becomes unmovable because he can’t stay on the field or he becomes unmovable because nobody will pay up that much. You can’t teach instincts & desire which he has both of. Also it wasn’t really his fault the hype the Twins attached to this guy. We must remember Hunter was sent down more than once and few ever thought he would turn out to be what he became. Big season for Buxton but I wouldn’t trade him just yet. Twins need to know for a FACT that he never turns the corner into more than a great defensive player who can’t stay on the field.

I think I just agreed with TBRO on Buxton but I’m not sure. lol

    No, thank God.

I also wasn’t a Buxton fan. However the ONLY thing you can hate about the guy is that he hasn’t been able to stay on the field. He gave us what we were hoping for when he played last season. OBP, slugging, power, speed and incredible defense. You can’t deny that. Hopefully he shows that again and can stay on the field this season.

CWS just locked up Moncada on a steal of a deal. Twins better get serious about winning this season or next because the division’s gonna be a lot harder to win a couple years down the road.

I think in terms of Buxton, Sano or Polanco – the one I predict will step up the most will be Polanco. Not his bat but I think his fielding will improve (unless our first baseman can’t catch of course). We’ll see, but Jorge is only 26 and a lot of the better hitting shortstops develop later as fielders. He’ll never be Gold Glove, but I think he’ll be better.

Kirilloff getting in on the action too. 2-2 with a HR. This is going to be a fun team to watch. I’m not all that concerned about the White Sox yet. Maybe in 2-3 years they’ll be able to mash, but still won’t have much pitching. They’ll probably be a lot like the Twins were in 2019.

I just want the season to start already. Going to be a wild ride.

Kirilloff yesterday. Larnach today. Gonna be fun to watch this young talent break into the majors or yield some significant pitching via trade

Haha I would also like to point out the front office has done NOTHING to the roster in about a month.

In legit news, I did see that Buxton claims that if the season would have started on time, he would have been ready.

No sporting events in Toronto through June 30th. Hopefully its just a Canadian thing. Also hope the Jays are on a month or so long road trip to begin the season. Optimistic much? cry

I think it’s on right now (not sure, I’m recording it whenever it is) but FSNorth is airing 1991 Game 7 tonight. They did Game 6 the other night.

FSNorth’s twitter account used this picture to advertise the game, didn’t know Jack Morris had such a wall mount collection!

Morris use to go out with the Griz quite a bit I think.

I think if the season was going they would be about 20 games into the season. Twins would be 12-8 and the White Sux would be 6 1/2 games behind and in last place. toast

14-6 right now and Donaldson has won two games late himself. One with a bomb and one with a late game stab at third. These nice evenings I am missing ball a bit.

Watching Game 7 now. There is a HIGHLY (IMO) underrated play that deserves much more attention.

What’s the top of the 8th of that game known for? Bases loaded, 1 out, Hrbek to Harper to Hrbek, right?

Earlier in the inning with Lonnie Smith on first Terry Pendleton (I think) hits a shot to left-center. Smith makes it third standing up but should’ve scored. He doesn’t because…..

Knoblauch and Gagne execute a fake where Knobby drops to a knee, acts like he’s receiving a throw, and then fakes a throw to Gagne. This causes Lonnie Smith to hold up briefly. Had this not taken place, Smith likely scores either on that play or later in the inning, and maybe we don’t make it to extras, to Black Jack going the distance, maybe MN sports is still stuck with just the 1 title from 1987.

Not trying to overdramatize this, it’s just that I wasn’t old enough to watch that series and this is the first time I’ve watched all of Game 7 and that play was just HUGE, and to me reeks of Tom Kelly instruction.

They sold it very well, but the mistake was all on Smith. He had no reason to slow up at that point he should have scored.

But yes, one of the great plays in their history.

I can’t believe how bad Terry Pendleton had it. The guys got to the WS 5 times and never won. He played phenomenally in ‘91 (I think it was the 7th or 8th inning in game 7 where he had a fantastic inning) and nothing to show for it. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy as can be but I feel for the guy

Our old friend Trevor Plouffe made some waves yesterday by saying on his podcast that he has it on good authority the MLB is planning to start up again on June 10th. He claims he got the info from two trusted sources from inside MLB. He tweeted it out and then got 6 or 7 others from inside baseball telling him to take it down.

Interesting. He makes a good case if you listen to his podcast but at this point I just don’t see how it happens. Sure hope it does though. I can’t stand all these replays.

Did you read his Twitter bio? He has himself listed as “RV driver” and “the greatest hitter ever against position players pitching (2-2, 2HR).” Hilarious.

I believe MLB is shooting for a July 4th opening day. What that will look like nobody knows. However if the date is accurate then a Spring Training starting date of around June 10th seems about right.

That’s correct Dutch. He was saying that Spring Training would start up June 10th with the season starting on the 4th. I could care less if there are no fans in the stadiums. Sure it’ll be a little weird, but I really want to be able to watch live ballgames again. I’ve been watching the freaking Korean league for heaven’s sake!

Twins vs the 2002 “moneyball” Oakland A’s tonight. Game 5 of the ALDS. Might have to watch that.

Owners approved an 82 game proposal that includes 14 playoff teams, leaguewide DH rule, and teams playing at home with obviously no fans to start, but could progress towards allowing fans in. Sounds like the 82 game schedule for the Twins would be predominantly AL central teams with the rest of the games vs NL centrals teams. Big advantage for the Twins over other AL teams in the west/east if that is the case.

Obviously still plenty of hurdles to go, as players are still plenty concerned about the safety of themselves and their family. Not to mention how their salary will be affected- the proposal has players and owners splitting the total revenue at 50-50.

They’ll discuss the proposal today but many sources say the players union almost certainly will not accept the initial proposal made by the league (why would they?). I’m trying to remain optimistic we will be able to watch some Twins baseball this summer. Obviously there are bigger concerns out there right now and I’m only hoping so if they are able to do it safely for everyone involved.

For those of you that have read up on it, any thoughts on the possible changes? No milb season, bigger rosters, only 7 inning games, doubleheaders? Gonna be a weird year if there is one.
