Polanco tested positive for PED’s and will be out 80 games. Can’t say I’m pumped about Escobar/Aybar or Adrianza but Nick gordon and/or Royce Lewis is a long ways off.

They will get them all into a rotation. The fat guy at third will need time off also.

After reading today that he has 7 errors in only 13 spring games, that would put him on pace for…oh, maybe 40 errors for those 80 remaining games? razz

Perhaps he was on more than just PE drugs? whistling

A long ways to go before we must worry about this, yes, but this also means he will be suspended from any post season play as well.

Sounds like the Aybar/Adrianza combo will be in place for an extended period of time. Curious to see how Gordon does in Rochester before hopefully getting the call in a month or two. Still don’t understand how we don’t know terms of the Sano suspension yet. Remember how the goal was to find out before spring training??

I think if I were the Twins I would flat out release Polanco. I would show the players that this isn’t acceptable. I don’t know how the union would react but I don’t think I would care. Do it and deal with the blowback.

Marte in Pittsburgh screwed the Pirates last year and now Polanco this year. This isn’t a rookie trying to make the club, it’s a starter on a team expected to have a pretty good year.

Exactly this issue… because of the union I’m pretty sure you can’t release the player. Have to treat them like a recovering employee and give them the chance to rehab and return. That was the discussion on a radio talk show couple years ago anyway so it must be true ;)

I don’t think this hurts the Twins as much as people will think. I actually loved the Aybar signing. It’s already proven huge with this recent news. Yes he is on the decline of his career but the guy is a professional hitter and can provide some stability where there isn’t much. Also, Adrianza is a pretty good hitter and isn’t a horrible fielder either.

I have a feeling that the Twins error totals will rise this year but hopefully it won’t hurt them too much.

If I’m remembering right the Twins are looking at Gordon as a second baseman more than a shortstop these days.

Gordon was sent down this morning.

I talked with one of the beat writers for the Twins the other day about the Sano suspension possibilities and he gave me the impression that the team isn’t too concerned about it and that if there is a suspension it won’t be very long.

Not sure if there just wasn’t enough evidence in the investigation or what but that’s what it seemed like.

There really wasn’t anything Gordon could do to prove he’s major league ready this spring. It’s whether he can get his arm strength up to play SS at the major league level. Still plenty young, just wouldn’t be fair to throw him into it this early.
The Twins will start with Adrianza as the every day SS, just for his pretty solid glove. Plug him in the 8 hole and hope you don’t even notice him in the lineup. Not a major loss, certainly not too concerned about it.

Sano will not be suspended per Ken Rosenthal.

Great start to the year for the Twinkies! And led by their starting pitching to boot, should be a fun season if that keeps up. While I am still critical of ownership, the front office had a great offseason and we haven’t seen Lynn yet.

Nice start by Berrios. Complete game shutout. Dozier has been hitting the heck out of the ball. We have all said for years that the bullpen would be used up and a mess in the 2nd half not because they weren’t good, but because the starters only went 3 innings to often. Hopefully those days are behind them now. Biggest concern now is getting past all the cold crappy weather the next 3 weeks will bring.

That was a great opening series on the road. Outstanding start by Berrios, No starting pitcher has given up an earned run yet this year, apparantly the first time that’s happened since 1976. Nothing to get too excited about with 159 games to go but what a great start.

Yeah Berrios was dealing today, should have had a no-hitter going into the 9th as Rosario’s gaffe should have been an error imo. Who knows what happens then, but doesn’t matter now anyway. Fun to watch!

Should be a fun year. They have enough experience on the starting staff that you would hope they can keep it going.

Will the games be postponed this week with highs in the 20s and 30s forecasted later this week? Starting pitching fell apart today unfortunately.

Pittsburgh home opener so the Pirates are juiced over that. Plenty of time to chip away.

They need to fix Rosario. He looks like a softball guy dipping his shoulder when he swings. sad

Well, in case nobody was paying attention while commenting for the one thousand, one hundred, and seventy something time regarding the Wild…the Twins are an absolute joke right now.

After getting hammered and swept in Tampa (a team that is in the process of cost saving-house cleaning) they now have everyone cracking up, laughing lol in NY as the Yankees make them look like “little league”.

So ridiculous to watch, changed channel to the Simpsons.

I agree, they went from taking 3 of 5 from series with the World Champ Astros and Division Champ Indians, then turned into complete garbage. Being early at least they have time to hit a better stride, but their past 5 games have been real bad. Their weekend series against the Reds can hopefully turn things around, but before that we have to lose two more in the Bronx.

Tampa Bay was really bad. Yankees are a different story. As much as the Twins improved their roster I still don’t see them beating the Yanks. That lineup is WAY too good offensively. The only pitcher I see beating them is Berrios and he couldn’t throw strikes tonight. I still say the Twins make the playoffs this year but they need to find their bats and quickly. The amount of infield pop ups has me thinking about some Willie Mays Hays punishment needing to be doled out.

It’s very early yet. Until they hit the 40 game mark it’s still kind of early to pass judgement. However there are some disturbing trends happening. Sano can’t hit. Rosario can’t hit a strike. Bullpen is getting worn out again. Biggest thing is the Angels continue to roll.

Upside is the central is worse then I thought. However you must dominate the pushovers like Tampa Bay.

The Twins are fortunate enough to play 57 games against the Chisox, Royals, and Tigers this year. Taking 5 (soon to be 7) L’s in a row is never great but they’ll get it straightened out once theyre back on their normal routine. Have to imagine 3 games getting snowed out and a trip to Puerto Rico could mess things up a bit.

I know it’s early but what the heck went wrong for the Twins?!? Seems like they are in a total free-fall..

Is it time to install Garver as the full time catcher? Mr. Framer couldn’t hit a beachball.

I like Garver. Funny reference to the “Framer” Dutch, sometimes those new-fangled stats and philosophies don’t work out huh.

I have no idea what happened. They looked real good for that stretch a few weeks ago, even through the proverbial “distractions” of the snow-outs and travel to PR. Then they have tailor-made series against the Rays and Reds and fall flat. They should’ve been able to go 1-3 against the Yankees and still have a decent record on this last 10-game stretch.

Obviously it’s a long season but stretches like this are ones you remember when you’re clinging to hope in late August/September.
