Looking for suggestions for a TV for my Lodge Ice House
Concerned about vibrations and wide temp ranges

    Suggestions would be great
    Thanks

i would get a LCD/LED. If you are worried about the vibration i would mount it to a wall and unclip it when you are moving and wrap it in a blanket. They are fairly easy to take on and off the wall mount when moving around… just need to plug/unplug a couple of cords. To be safe i would also make sure to heat the house up before powering it on.

I’m sure there are plenty of people who leave it on the wall and just fire it up right away and are fine. I would probably be a little more cautious.

Yep I do pretty much the same. I have a cheap mount with a quick detach and just pop it off and set it on the jack knife sofa. The cushions take most of bouncing around out of it when moving spot to spot. Usually I have it in the backseat when going to the lake if it fits. Some guys I know just have it mounted to the wall and leave it there all year without any issues.

I had a wall mounted Toshiba, it worked for about 2 years and then just died randomly. I now just use an old Laptop and watch DVD’s… I do plan on getting a new TV for it eventually, so I’ll be following this thread!

I’ve got a Skyworth that I ordered right from a trucker supply company. Can’t remember the name. This thing is tuff as nails. I never take it out and have bounced my shack across many lakes and many miles traveling to different states. I figure good enough for a semi good enough for me. I highly recommend the Skyworth brand.

I spent some time researching this this year. In the end I passed on the expensive, tougher tv’s and went with a samsung 32″ from costco with the extended warranty (5 years total) for around $240. If anything goes wrong costco warranties are awesome, and 5 years seemed good for the price.

I got a very sturdy, quick release mount for $33 from amazon:

Just lift it on/off (unless you use the set screw). I have traveled with it on the mount, but if I had a fancy house I would set it on a couch/bed. I even leave the tiny feet on my tv and move it inside to the kitchen/bedroom.

I also went with samsung because thier screen mirroring to my galaxy phone allows me to watch downloaded movies or netflix with no wifi or data usage.

I have a 50″ Vizio in my Yetti. It stays on the wall year round and I’ve yet to have any problems last 2 seasons. The wall mount has articulating arms so the TV can pull off the wall and swivel. I built “shelves” above and below the TV so when I’m traveling I just push the TV against the wall and throw a few ratchet straps over it and it doesn’t budge (picture below).

In the future I’m going to get rid of the traditional ratchet straps and get some retractable straps like those on the transom of a boat trailer just for a little more convenience.

I have a 24″ LED, TV/DVD player combo. I leave it on all year round, and have never had a problem. I also made sure it was 12 volt, so I can watch tv with out the generator running. I have a direct vent heater so I dont need power for that. I rarely need to plug my generator in. I can run my shack for about 5 days without charging which is very nice. Just a thought to keep in mind.

Ive had an Insignia for 3 years now, I used to take it out when not using but now just leave it in the house and have had no issues due to hot/cold swings.
I didn’t pay much for the unit and decided I was sick of taking it in and out between trips. In spring it comes out of the fish hose and goes into my boat.

I didn’t pay much for the unit from best buy, nor would I ever. Its a TV… and its being used in a fish house and a boat, bouncing down the road, ice and waves as well as hot to cold temp swings. No sense in wasting money on something that could break. But I’ve been surprised how well it has held up.

Vote number 2 for the Skyworth. It’s mounted to the wall and swings flat to the wall that I mounted a shelf underneath it with removable pegs that support it for 3 years now in my Firebrand. It’s powered by 12 volt power port and sound is enhanced with an auxiliary cable that plugs into the stereo radio with overhead speakers.
