TV antenna in rural areas

  • #1573391

We live in Zimmerman, and are cutting the dish/cable/direct TV cord. What aerial TV antenna do people use to get the most stations? Is it on your house?
    Thanks in advance

We have a 2nd house that I never wanted to pay for cable for. I went with a digital antenna. It works either in the house, in the attic or on the roof/house. It gets quite a few channels.

Go to http://antennaweb.org/ and click on the “Click here to start” button. Put in your address and they will show you what stations you can receive and which antenna is needed to do that.

Antennas direct is a great web site. There online tech service steered me away from the model I was looking at because of trees in my yard that he looked at on Google Earth. Told me a different model that was cheaper. In Rochester I get all the local stuff plus some Iowa. No Twin Cities stations.

^^^^^ Yes follow Muskietim this has been where I looked to aid many clients and have not been disappointed yet.
Always go higher in the air with the antenna and skip up the ladder for a higher gain.

Thanks for all your responses, I’ll give them a try, and see what happens. I’m really tired of feeling ripped off for something that’s used (viewed) only a couple hours a night.

Put this one on our roof a month ago and so far it works good. We are 30 miles from Mankato and about 55 miles from Twin Cities. Pulling in all Mankato stations and some Cities stations. I think if I put it higher on the roof I would be able to get all city stations. But I took the easy way of install and took the dish off of our roof, was able to use it’s mounting system and cable. I do worry about how this system will hold up in the elements over time though. There’s plastic on it.
