Headed out to Turtle Lake in the north metro yesterday. Set up on one of the center humps in about 15-20 ft of water searching for crappies. Didn’t have much luck – will be headed back out there today to try a different spot searching for panfish & if im lucky, a walleye. Will report back.

What’s the ice conditions? Can you get out on a wheeler?

Had 6-8 inches when I was out last week. Wheelers were out too.

Some Walters out there (shhh) That is a weedline lake, get on those weeds on the north side, thicker the better, that lake has good cabbage which holds up well in the winter, so does milfoil-walleye guys hate milfoil but walleye don’t! Lots of bass but you have to put them back, you will not get large panfish but if you do make sure you PM me! Worst thing about that lake is it gets just packed with wake board boats skiers and other crazy nonsense that you will not have to worry about.

I would agree with Tim on the weed lines.

I have only been on Turtle a handful of times during the winter and recently have been trying to figure it out. First time out I was on the north end looking for weeds which I found in clumps in about 10-14ft, but did not see a single fish on the camera. kept searching out to 16-17ft, weeds disappeared, and again no fish. This was middle of last week and there was 6-8inches. Any luck Austin? How’s the bite been for others?

Try shallower, great that you are using a camera. Lots of fish in that lake, enjoy them all don’t worry if Walter is a no show
