I was reading the regs on the MN Youth Hunt. It states (This is a general summarization not line for line) that a young hunter age 12 – 15 (I believe) can do the youth hunt providing he/she has taken the fire arms safety course and it is their “First” time hunting for Turkey.
So I emailed one of the CO’s and asked him if my 9 year old is eligible to go out this year. His response is below and reminded me of the main/big change this year for youth hunters.
Ahhhh, he very is eligible. There is no minimum age for turkey hunting…..it’s up to the parents to know when the youth is ready. So he can purchase a $1 license to hunt turkey and new this year he can hunt all seasons and locations until he harvests a turkey or May 29….whichever comes first.
Time to get the choke tube in the Mossburg and start shooting some paper.
