Starting to get the 10 Year old Daughter setup and ready to go turkey hunting this spring ( If it ever arrives and if there are any turkey left alive ) I have a Choke Tube on the way ( Found a decent deal on a Primos Jelly head on ebay ) plan to test it with a few different Turkey loads one I get it and it warms up a little. My question now is in regards to sights for her Remington Youth 20 gauge. I was thinking about ordering some Truglo fiber optic sights for it. I have always just used the vent rib and plain bead, but thought fiber optics may be a better option to start her out with. What are your thought on the best way to go?

Buck Wacker- Went thru all your same motions last year with my 10 year old son. We also used Remington youth 20 ga. My nephew had borrowed it for many years deer hunting and left red dot scope on it. So we just left it on and it worked great for him and dont have to worry to much about site alignment when they look down the barrel. He is not a big kid 75 lbs, so at range i had him shoot low base shells to gain confidence and I shot a few of the real 3″”turkey loads” to confirm choke pattern. Put in the real loads on game day, he never knew the difference when he was finally able to pull the trigger on his first turkey. Hopefully Spring conitions are better this year. 10″ of snow on the ground in May when he shot his. Good luck

I think it’s a great idea. More than anything else, it will make her focus on lining the sight up on the target. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the action and forget to do the most important thing…aim! A big glowing green dot could be a great reminder.

Did that for my daughters and worked great!

I think your whole game plan is a great idea… My only reservation is during the patterning process is the son/daughter able to draw from the aiming point where the pattern is??? Not that it may be a big deal, especially if you took that into consequence, but that’s the one reason I pattern my shotgun is to understand where I am delivering my shotgun’s pattern…
